As i look back on the Halo series cut scenes some of them were full of action and excitement

So do you think they should create a movie?

Here's the original Halo movie trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sPwUrBKTwY&feature=relate d

The O.D.S.T trailer which i thought was the most interesting

yeah, all that stuff is just another montage..

Having said that, it DOES capture the mood and dark feel of the Fall of Reach.

And if they are gonna make a HALO movie series...they MUST start with the book "Fall of Reach" to explain the background of the Spartan Project, otherwise, it would make no sense to the non-halo fan. Think of when HALO: CE First came out...we REALLY had no real idea on who Chief was or Cortana, or the Covenant or any of that...all we knew was MC was a Cyborg Super Soldier, they were on the run from Alien Forces, and they found this Ring World...
Wasn't until the books came out and HALO2 came around that all the missing pieces started fitting together.

SO...if I were a director (and I work in the film industry, so I know how they would normally plan something like this)..what I would do is:

1st Halo Movie: Fall of Reach...focusing on the book, and thus, the Spartan Program, while leading into the departure of the Autumn during REACH the game.
The opening sequence, however, before the movie Title came around, would be a rough paraphrasing of what happened in Contact:Harvest.

Think of how they introduce the history of "The Lord of the Rings" with Galadriel kinda giving the viewer an "update"...

I would have Cortana give the same kinda narrative update on all the event that happened between first contact and the beginning of REACH, including the Covenant, birth of the Spartan need, Insurrection/Rebellion and so forth.

Then, get into the meat and potatoes...."Fall of Reach" Focusing on Master Chief as a young Spartan...pre-Mjolnir and up until the Autumn initiates Cole Protocol and jumps into Slpispace.

The 2nd Halo movie would be the first Halo game, or the book "The Flood"
3rd would be "First Strike/Ghosts of Onyx"
4th would be Halo 2/ODST
5th would be Halo 3 and probably in two parts.

Anyways...thats how I would run it...

Wow That was probably the best idea I've ever read

You Never Knock The Way Another Cat Swings, Man...

If there were a Halo movie, I would have to make a few things perfectly clear.

1. It could NOT have a SPARTAN main character. The Spartans didn't express emotion enough or even talk enough to be the main characters, but they could be in the movie by all means.

2. It would have to be done in the styles of all of the live action trailers. NO FULL LIVE ACTION FOR HALO MOVIE.

3. This is just an opinion, but I think the game/characters most deserving of a movie would be the ODSTs. I think a movie sequel to the ODST game would be pretty badass.

Cortana could be the main character and narrator?

humans are so concerned about where they've been, that they dont stop and think about where we're going

i dont wanna halo movie. hollywood directors would ruin it and change it too much. halo is fine as is

If there was to be a Halo movie, it could not be full live action. The cutscenes in Halo Wars were pretty good looking, and I think that there could be a movie made totally or partially in CGI of that quality. If it were partial live action however, any and all SPARTANs would have to be animated, at least for the armor. (In case you haven't noticed, SPARTAN armor is reaaaally hard to make real-looking. ODSTs and Marines are fine though)

Now, for the plot, I think it should be something bridging the time between Contact Harvest and The Fall of Reach. Then it can be a completely new storyline and leaves it open for sequels is the movie is any good.

Maybe something along the lines of:

One of the major battles to defend one of the Outer Colonies. The UNSC finds an unusual Forerunner artifact that could sway the war to their favor on the uncharted planet they randomly jump to while retreating. They go onto the planet to investigate, but meet a Monitor who is obviously rampant. He sets sentinels and the other defenses on the troops.

When they make it back to their orbiting ship, they find that the crew has disappeared. Then a cloaked Covenant ship has taken them as prisoners of war. With the navigators gone, no nav data (as per the Cole Protocol) and most of the technicians, the ship has no way of getting back to UNSC space, and is stranded for a short amount of time until rescued by another retreating ship. This one however, is a small group of SPARTAN-IIs who are manning the ship by themselves after suffering the same fate.

the two ships join and go to rescue the PoWs on the Covenant ship, (preferably a supercarrier) fight their way to the detention center, and blow the ship up. Then they go back to the world with the forerunner artifact and then the movie ends, leaving room for a sequel.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I'd like an animatrix style adaptation of Contact Harvest.

  • 11.12.2010 10:03 PM PDT

A movie adaptation (done well) of Ghosts of Onyx would be amazing...

Halo is the Star Wars movie of the XXI century.... Just Saying

They should make the movies based on the four novels in the main series from Fall of Reach to Ghosts of Onyx.

I hear we're getting the Fall of Reach as the first movie. This'll be interesting, as we get to see how the reconcile both Battles of Reach into one timeline.

I'd prefer that it take place on Alpha Halo, working alongside and occasionally overlapping with the game. We'll be getting that in Halo: The Flood, but I'd prefer it as the inaugural entry.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Yes, but it would depend on who directs it.

im curious on what this ghost of onyx is?

  • 11.13.2010 9:41 AM PDT

I think a Halo film set on Reach, but without Spartans having a mainpart. I say that because if you can't see their face most of the time, a lot of the facial expressions and emotion is gone. Marines don't have the problem though.

would you consider o.d.s.t has a chance as well?

"Were it so easy..." -Thel Vadame.

When I imagine a Halo movie, I don't think a hollywood real time movie would be good. More like, 3 hours of Ensemble cut scenes :P

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

I don't like the intro part, but the idea is good. I envisioned the opening scene being the date of when the battle group (4?) is sent to investigate loss of communication with Harvest, with only the Heracles escaping.

Imagine the Snowy landscape of Harvest in Halo Wars, with Marines walking among the ruins of a city or settlement, trying to find any survivors. Suddenly a recon team detects movement, you hear gun fire through the COM and then silence. Then an Elite materializes behind another marine, who is swiftly impaled by an energy sword. Awesome but brief massacre ensues (in which you never clearly see any of the Alien attackers). This flashes back and forth with scenes of the ships in space, taking plasma torpedoes that originate out of nowhere.

Screen goes dark, and in text appears a new date and "15 years prior to first Contact" or whatever it would be when Halsey first meets John and the Spartan program begins. Then you get to the meat and potatoes.

They can do that visor-make-see-through thing. Could have a cool hot drop scene.
