Subject: How do Spartans breath?

Well plasma is gas heated so much that the ions separate from the nucleus (I think) so that would make it a sort of half-solid-half-gas substance. I think that when the plasma hits the shield, it dissipates, but generates so much heat the armor devotes power to keep the shields in that area up. That would explain the shields going down and eventually failing from too much plasma fire-there isn't enogh power to keep up the barrier in all places.

What a hipster.

The only thing I can think of is that they have a breathing apparatus that can filter or provide air. In an extreme case they can unseal their suit. If they are in an area safe for breathing, I would say lungs. :P

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

Good question. Maybe air can pass through the shields like Agustus said, but then that raises the question of how air can pass through the shields but plasma, which is basically a super heated gas, can not.

Hmmmm, perplexing.

Plasma isn't a gas, it's it's own state of matter. Gas being passive could pass through a shield, while plasma which is a concentrated burst of highly energized particles would meet resistance. I'm not going to pretend how it would theoretically work, because Bungie can make up anything about it. The point is that the quote in no way states that air cannot pass through a shield. On top of that it is one sentence n the entire Halo Universe, and should not be given much attention.

Check out Heritage, an awesome 4v4 map that can be found in my file share.

Check out Bedrock. That's cool, too.

With their lungs, silly.

Maybe air can pass through because it has a neutral charge. Meanwhile, plasma is not neutral so it somehow doesn't pass through?

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

Erm...this can be debated, last time I checked, Oxygen has a -2 charge. But Agustus is right; your question has pretty much been answered.
