Subject: your reactions towards the flood

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

It was neat. The Library was the last level in any video game that my dad ever played. He told me that the key to beating the flood was to constantly be on the move, and it worked.

Some dads teach their kids how to fish. Some dads teach their kids how to work on cars. My dad taught me how to slay flood scum.

I was pretty young and it was like 3am so I was really on edge. A combination of being scared, nervous, and excited all at once.

Busy guarding misplaced gates to nothing.

I was looking at my screen for a couple of minutes just wondering what the hell they were. It was around 4 am when I got to that part in campaign, but they scared the crap out of me due the large numbers. Fun, frustrating times.

Gonna be honest here, i was say maybe about 8 when i started playing halo combat evolved. i loved the game until when you reach the part where cortana mentions the flood and they start playing the creepy music, i then started to dislike like it, and when i made first contact with the flood i was scared -blam!-less. i turned off the xbox, had nightmares and i never played any of the levels that include flood because i was scared so bad. never was able to beat any flood level on halo 1 or halo 2 until i was 12 or so.

stoopidmunke

I played Halo 2 first, but halo 1's flood levels made a different impact on me. the claustrophobic environment coupled with the totally sick flood models was awesome. Add to that the whole lead up with gore on the walls and covenant scared -blam!-less and it made for a good scary time. I think I actually said to myself out loud, after getting cornered and killed by a human infection form I was trying to tear apart with the AR, "Wow, this is more disturbing than halo 2" it's all good though I love 343 guilty spark as a level. Halo CE flood were badass, the halo 3 ones were made out of old corned beef hash and -blam!-ness.

Don't cross the white line.

"Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Give a Halo regular a fish, and he'll complain about the taste, color, type, size, where you found it, how you obtained it, whether or not you'll give him more fish later, and I don't know how many more things. And then when you give him another fish, he'll complain that it's not exactly like the first fish. Rinse and repeat."

My Thought Process

"Huh, dead Elites, this is weird..."

"Yep, definately getting a bit weird now..."

"Wait, what was that?!...huh, must have been nothing..."

"What is that? It looks like a lump of mud with legs. Eat AR, alien scum!"

"Haha, that was easy! Oh, wait...there's another...and another...oh god...AARRRGGHHH!!!"

"AAARRRRGGGGHHH OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE THINGS AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH"

"WHERE IS THE EXIT FOR THIS ROOM?!?!?! GAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

"AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

about fifteen deaths, then the realization that i would be fighting much harder versions of the things in later levels, followed by a period of depression. :)

As if this really matters.

I first saw the Flood in Halo 2 and then I was like, "Well, it's just another enemy".

Escalators don't break, they just become stairs.

Because I am young, I started playing Halo the year the 360 came out. At that time I was about 7 or 8.When i saw the flood(and I was playing one player with the lights off) I was like "O MY GOD!!!!!!". They gave me nightmares for like a week but when halo 2 came out, I realized they weren't scary and went back to play halo CE and just have them chase me around for fun. I would also sit in the corner with a shotgun and AR acting like I was in a shooting gallary. But when I first saw them they were scary when you got trapped in a corner on NORMAL!( I was in 2nd grade for the record)

*sees video

"-blam!- they got owned."

"Wait, this is the same room..."

*banging noise

"Uh, wher is that

*door breaks

"Oh my god theres hundreds of them!"

*sprays frantically with Assault Rifle

"Okay. They seem to go down pretty easily

*door breaks down behind me. I aim right at the door.

*Combat form jumps out

"SWEET JESUS WHAT THE -blam!- IS THAT!"

Escalators don't break, they just become stairs.

I think the worst part about running through the structure is that when you get to the lift you're all like"YES! i MADE IT THROUGH IT!YAY!", but then when you go DOWN insted of UP, you get all scared again because you aren't even halfway through.

Intolerance is the highest level of stupidity and inbred thinking.

Considering I was a small child, I freaked. It was a scary. The feeling is embedded in my mind. Just thinking about the Flood sends a shiver down my spine, even all these years later. Bungie, I applaud you and the mental scare you left.

It creeped the hell outta me, thats for sure. The creepy alien music of the flood spreading is now worming its way back into the front of my mind. And I was 14 at the time, when Halo first hit PC, didnt even know what an xbox was back then.

Learn to accept people interest.

Omg what is that pop-corn looking thing. wow in going towards that guy OMG-WTF. Then me running and gunning away.

  • 11.24.2010 5:15 AM PDT

I tend to die a lot

For me it was creepy until I got in the facility. Then it was me franticly running around with my pistol because I'd run out of AR ammo. Then when I finally did get back out, my hope of escaping the nightmare died when I realized that I was back outside in the dark, creepy forest with a zombie plague intent on tearing me limb from limb climbing up the elevator shaft behind me.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.” – Psalms 46:1-3

I was 13 and I honestly saved, turned off the xbpx, and waited till the morning as it was night time and the screams and music scared the living piss out of me.

Now they are not scary in the least bit.
