Halo Reach is fun but... It will never be Halo 3.
Before you troll, remember this, I understand that you may disagree, Thats why I'm posting this as simply my opinion. I also understand that a casual Halo players (such as myself) opinion means nothing, I'm not trying to get Bungie to change Reach. I'm only stating what I feel about it compared to Halo 3.
Halo 3's maps where a million times better. Pit Stop, Guardian, Cold Storage, Construct, Last Resort... I like all these maps better then any in Reach. Reach brought us forge world, witch is a great addition, but a lame excuse for maps. They've used it as a way to have us build all the maps, and quite frankly they all look like variations of the same thing. Blood Gulch was a huge disappointment, It feels nothing like the original... simply proving that any remake of a map done in forge world will ultimately be a fail in my mind.
Armor lock. Seriously? No thanks, I can't wait for MLG to fix this game and remove all these dumb things. Halo 3 was great because every one was on the same level. If you killed some one, you did fair and square, If you died, you try harder next time. Now if your about to die, you go into the fetal position and pray a team mate saves your ass. Or fly away. Either way I'd take bubble shields and power drains over jet packs and armor lock any day.
Ranking... While Halo 3's system wasn't with out it flaws, it was still better then Reaches. While I think the credits and customization in Reach is a great addition, I'm not impressed with the actual Ranking system. Halo 3's rank actually was a good indication of how good you where. Reaches rank system tells me how much of a life you have (or don't have). I think they could have included credits in a skill/experience ranking system that included the best of both systems. Arena is neat and all, but being rated for a month isn't nearly as cool as climbing the latter to a 50.
Achievements... I've got all but 5 in Reach I think, and thats simply because I haven't finished Campaign yet. None of them are hard or take any skill to do. Part of what made Halo 3 so much fun was the aspect of having some really tough achievements to do. They gave you a reason to stay interested in the game.
I'll give Reach this, it has a good campaign, great story, and beautiful graphics. It was well done, and polished all around into a smooth fun experience. Reach took Firefight up to the next level as well. But when it boils down to it, Reach will end up being what ODST, or MW2 was for me, just something to change the pace for a while, but never a replacement for Halo 3.
Thats my rant, again, if you disagree, so be it, I enjoy Reach too, just not like I did Halo 3.
