To start this off here is my story...
I was out in a Wal-Mart like place (for those who don't know what Wal-Mart is, its a place where they sell pretty much everything under one roof).
I got bored so i wandered over to the games section of the place. I saw the Xbox and was like: "cool and Xbox, seen these on TV, never actually played one". So i went over and picked up the controller and noticed there was a game in progress, so i restarted the level. I still didn't know what i was playing, but i still went around killing and the like. I thought to myself:"I wonder what this game actually is..."
I quit the level and...tah-dah... it was HALO!! At that point in time i had never heard of Halo (stupid me!!!) and i thought that this game was the ultra best FPS ever created! So i went home wanting an Xbox and Halo. I never got one though... Oh well, i've played it too many times to count at my cousins house, so I'm happy!!
HALO RULES!!! (so will Halo 2)

Well back when I thought Gamecube was gonna kick ass i wasn't really interested in an xbox or halo but when i played it in Game.........boy was I wrong. Easily still my favourite game till this day, i still play it 2 years on. Just goes to show what a little effort can do, unlike some other games that are just churned out to make money

Noodle, I was the same as you. Even more so though. I had a Cub preordered, I know what games I was gonna buy, hell, my screen names were like "Game3Freak" etc. However, then I read a magazine that had an interview with Ed Fries. He gushed on and on about Halo this and Xbox that and they had all these gorgeous screen shots. So I prompty changed my preorder and got an Xbox instead.

Funny thing is, I also convinced a friend to change his preorder, and what do ya know, he is now the most hardcore Halo player ever. No seriously, he is. =)

Microsoft had an xbox stand at one of the I-series events in the UK I was there with my CS clan for the tournament and in the downtime waiting for the semi's to finish the clan jumped on the 8 linked xbox's

I was hooked within about 12 seconds and its all over since then my only regret is the xbox doesnt have a keyboard/mouse interface for it.

(and no i dont own halo PC i dont even think my pc could handle it)

I was at my Dad's cousin's son's basement for some party about a year ago(he's about 20 years old). So I'm in his basement and my older brother and him (Tim) were playing some stupid game driving jeeps around on some stupid island. When I tried out the stupid game(I was a gamecube fan) I thought the game was even stupider because the controls were all "messed" up(I was used to metroid prime controlls). Maybe the naxt week my bro bought the game and I took the time to learn how to play the game. From that moment on I became OBSESSED with Halo!

I was at my friend's house, and he was playing Halo. I gave it a try, and I had a plams pistol at the red base, looking up at the sky. I thought that this was a sci-fi game. My friend (Joey) came up behind me, and meleed me to death. One year later, I was at his house for a party, and everyone was playing it. I thought that this was a tight game. I then got an xbox that year, and for christmas, got Halo. It was awesome. Then my brother got an xbox, I got another copy, already had four controllers, he had two, bought the cable, and started playing. I am now as good as Joey, or a little less, but I go to halo parties a lot and whoop some (as people at Halo National say) Hey Booty Booty!

Wow it is starting to catch on! lol, thank God for gamepro, I saw the little page on Xbox about 4 months before its release, bought it on November 15, 2001(release date) the guy selling it to me gave me 2 controllers, stratagy guide, and...Halo. When I get home I have an old TV and no Color ports on the back. O crap, I forgot to get an adapter. By this time, all stores are closed but at the same moment my friend jack pulled in (I lived in apartments at the time) I asked him if I could bring it up to his 62' Widescreen tv. :D He was happy to obligue. That was my first experience with Halo, and it was a damn good one.

Crimson Clover

Let's see, I was at a friend's house with another friend when my first friend brought over another friend. He also brought over his X-Box with four controllers and Halo. We played some warthog wars but my second friend and I had never played the game before. We were murdered. After playing it another friend's house, and then one more, Halo became a great game. I got really good with the shotgun and could beat everyone alse when it came to shotguns. I now own an X-Box, four controllers, and Halo.

Alright, Crimson Kenny told the story already. We were playing against each other with three other friends. I sucked so bad but I thought that this game was cool. Before I was all into Medal of Honor Allied Assault, but a friend said that Halo is so much better than MOHAA. So I played it with Kenny and aftwards continuously went to friend's houses, had Halo parties. I became the German "Kradschuetze" and Kenny was the Biatch with the Shot Gun. Well, then I had to return to Germany, and the first thing I did was buy an Xbox with Halo. I don't own any other game.
The first time I played against Kenny I started my inverted madness, cuz I couldn't read English properly, and I didn't know what "inverted" means, so I just picked it. Now there's only inverted for me.
Anyways that's it. Good times Kenny, eh?

On my wishlist for christmas, I wanted to write something expensive that i never thought I would get, like my own widescreen tv, new computer, surround sound to the tv i wanted, and something i thought I was never gonna get ever... A Xbox. And a Gamecube and Playstation 2. Then on christmas I got a really big, heavy, hard present. I had got a Xbox. I never thought that I was going to get one, and I wasn't really sure I wanted one. First I was a little dissappionted, since the only two games that follosed were two mediocre games on the same cd. Next week I wnt to town by a new game. My dad said that he had read that Halo was the best Xbox game out, so I bought it, hesistant at first, since I had never played a shooter before.
Now it's one of the best games I have, and I still play it, even after I played other top xbox games, like splinter cell and midtown madness. Now I even got my sister and her best friend to play it, and they have got theri friends to play it, and one of my friends bouhjt an Xbox because of it

I was a GameCube fan at the beggining of this generation of consoles. My best friend got an XBox and Halo. It was junior year of high school and he kept going on about some game...I nodded my head thinking "This game sounds so stupid...why would anyone play that?" Of course, I had never seen Halo, so I didn't even know it was a FPS, much less a beautiful one. Then I went over and played Halo with him, CO-OP, and OMG, there was no going back. We played until late that night, until I had to be home. Everytime I went over we played, or either he brought his Xbox to my house. About a year ago I finally bought an Xbox, when the price dropped to $179. Ever since then, I haven't stopped playing Halo.

And if I had known that the GameCube would have so many kid-oriented games, I would never have wanted it. I expected some cartoonish games, but what they did to Zelda is unforgivable. They desecrated one of the best series of games in history.

I first played halo on that first box demo microsoft released. I played it in Pc world. I thoguht the game was -blam!- though as I thought with the grunt squeals and the fact that they look like bats (yes I was blind before the light restored me).
Month later go round my freins play halo co-op and still was blind. (this time I thought the bridge was a closet)
I first got halo Pc as I was more of a Pc gamer. Spent 140 pouns on it and fuk that could have bought an xbox. Halo Pc was nothing like halo xbox so I went and brought one (xbox)

Back in the day (1997? Early '98?) before the announced it was going to be a headliner for the mac (and obviously the PC right after). Before it even resembled what it does today. Man, those were good times. Only took you 5 years Bungie ;). Don't worry I still love ya guys.

Yep I'm way back in the day before it was even known as Halo from Rampancy.net when it was refered to as Blam! Then the 99 trailer came out and my jaw fell off. Glad to finally have it! ;) Of course now I can't wait for Halo 2 with Xbox Live and all the cool new stuff coming out! But mainly I can't wait for Live play.

A few weeks before the xbox launch, a friend of me told about a game that was much more beautiful and much better than operation flashpoint: cold war crisis. As I loved Op. Flshpt:CWC, I didn't believe him about the "being better" thing, and was very sceptical about the better graphics.
After the launch, I went over to his house and played Halo. I was hooked immediately. I then bugged my parents to get an xbox until the sega christmas pack was out and I got one.
After having played the games+ RSC, I borrowed Halo and played it through. A week later, I bought it. It's still my favourite game...

Well heres my story...

Me and my friend both had gamecubes and we thought it was waaaaaay better than x-box (nintendo does have good games but sorry x-box is better) and me and my friend swore we would never get an x-box. Then one day, my sister saw him in town and asked him wot was he doing with his gamecube and all his games and he told her that he was gettin an xbox! i was shocked. Then one weekend, i went down, we played on the fabulous game Halo and i kinda went out and got one >.> <.< . And thats how i heard and first played Halo

Way back in the early days, when PC Gamer were running occasional articles on it, when it was still going to be an RTS, and then again when it got re-imagined as an FPS.

in my more ignorant, younger days, i was one of those people that said "ewwww..." at the thought of a console based FPS. keyboard and mouse were the norm during my adolesance. so while i did get the xbox at launch, i did not get HALO. i kept hearing about how great it was from other xbox owners, but kept dismissing it as some crappy console FPS. who uses a control pad for those games anyways? friggin communists. that was my line of thought until i actually played it at a friends house. the next day i traded in a couple games to get it. the employee gave me this look like, what the hell have you been doing all this time? and the rest is history.

I remember I had just came off a fire dispatch and had a couple days off. Xbox had just came out a couple weeks back and I was dying to buy one.(THe specs compared to PS2 and GC brought me to the conclusion that Xbox would be the best system). Anyways, so I was at Wal-Mart because everyone else was sold out already and I picked one up. I looked over all the games and decided on DOA3 Project gothem or Halo. Thats when it hit me. I remembered seeing a commercial for Halo a while back and remembering how awesome it looked. I took a look at the game case and thought, wait a second this game kinda looks PCish, but I bought it anyways. Brought it home played it for both days and most of the night. Couple weeks later bought three more controllers. And later, I bought myself a system link cord after turneing my PS2 fanboys into Halo freaks.
