Thanks for bumping. I'd gladly end up banned if it would get Bungie to see this thread.

all for what, probably aint happenin, bedies i can swear ive killed fully shielded people with 15 bullets of AR once.

As the game sits now, it takes around 20 rounds to drop someone in Reach if they are fully shielded and healed when you start shooting, and you are the only one engaging them. Therefore, it is impossible to kill someone in 15 rounds if these conditions are met. I recommend you learn basic observation and justification skills before posting any more, jamie. On these forums, BS is challenged by the tru7h, and hardly ever as nicely as I did here.

Edit: P.S. Learn how to spell as well. You fail at right clicking on the red and selecting the proper choice from the drop down menu. Your Grammar could use some help as well, come to think of it.

Im with you 100% dude.

The AR is a halo classic. Even though you started off with the pistol in the beginning, hey its a pistol, side arm, get it? lol. Once you charge into that mess room your AR is by your side and you just unload on them grunts.

Theres a sliver of use of the AR in MM which is sad. The AR should do much more damage per round, have a headshot bonus because its a -blam!- gun, bullets still hurt no matter what they are when your hit in the head, and a larger magazine size. Im not saying bump it back to 60 because thatd be overkill. Somewhere near 45 would be perfect, or hell how about 50 becuase in the halo games, a 50 is kick ass.

The downside to it all would be the dmr and the over use of it with mlg tactics which have ruined the game for casual gamers. Most everyone out there uses it because its what your give to start off with, but wheres the fun in the game when what you'll see almost every death is either a grenade, a fist and bullets to the face, almost instant death. People complain how you can overcome this problem by working with your grouping and aim overall but thats hard to do when your being shot, controller vibrates, screen jumps a bit, it throws you off a bit. Seeing that over and over again kills it for some people.

If the AR is going to get an update, it should at least be given to you from the start no matter what gametype it is. It should be able to hold ground against a dmr duel at a medium to a short long range so it'll make the other person back off, make it more combat like. Full auto will also do alright at med range but best stick with tapping the gun. Bullet spread is alright where it is.

Again im saying that becuase its a halo CLASSIC!

That was,..... something else. Intelligent, calm, polite... ownage.

And yes, it is impossible to kill a fully shielded/healed SPARTAN with 15 rounds in Halo: Reach on default settings. 15 was the number of rounds to kill in Halo: CE ( MA5B ICWS).

I think skill should still be rewarded though. A damage buff only might be the better solution.

What's more to say but i live day by day. Never forgetting that my impact on the world isn't that important. Always waiting for the end of the day. Night is the most important. Welcome to my world you will find that the sun is unimportant.

That is true remember halo 1 when the ar could take down a hunter if you tried. Now the hunter laughs at your puny magazine!

Or rather at your weak rounds.

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't that lead to AR Beatdown like H3?

Unlikely, since they'd still have to make sure your shields pop before pressing the melee button.

Absolutely not. The AR smashes most things in close quarters, no reason to make it stronger. If you don't like it from mid distances, don't use it.

Umm yeah, but you could also kill a hunter with one pistol shot. They obviously realized they needed to make hunters stronger. It's not the weapons.

Exactly, so I see no point in making the weapon itself even weaker. It always was one of the weaker weapons, but now it's too weak to even be usefull.

It's supposed to. But even there I can easily beat an AR user with the Magnum and the DMR. That should not happen often. But it does.

yeah, i believe the damage should be increased. However, increasing clip size would just make it a given for being able to kill someone easily. It's better to still have a little challenge in getting the kill with it.

I agree, thats why I think magasine size is ok, but I'd rather see the damage of each individual round increased.

16 bullets to kill. Rewards bursting and marksmanship. Rewards skill. Gives a purpose to the Assault Rifle.

Wow, a overpost (post 4 times in a row without anyone posting in between)
I agree that it'd be nice to have the AR toned up, I just doubt it'd happen.

  • 11.23.2010 1:19 PM PDT

Firefight is made to AFK in. That's Reach's "Investment" system

I agree. I REALLY wish this weapon could be equal to the DMR because Halo used to be about equality (ish) now its just.... SCREW EVERYTHING! HEADSHOTS!! MLG!!! CALL OF DUTY!!! I miss having a reliable weapon thats not some Call of Duty clone

  • 11.23.2010 1:27 PM PDT

I don't always own.. but when I do.. I use the AR. [dos-equis.]

I doubt it too, but I hope a Bungie employee will notice this thread. Even if I have to bump to get them to notice it ny banning me.

Yes. There are only 2 automatic weapons in the game and one of them (AR) is too weak!

It's not weak at all. If anything it should be nerfed. I just got killing spree with it just like a game ago and it was as easy as hell.

The other guys must have sucked, grats on the mayhem. As the comments in this thread make quite clear, many people have serious issues with the damn thing most of the time. Don't get me wrong, I can get kills with it like crazy... but only if everyone else is lugging them around as well. And even then, the M6 is a much better choice for those fights, as you can get a headshot with it once the other guy's shields pop.

  • 11.24.2010 12:52 AM PDT

In regards to novels and "canon". I will pick and choose which ones to support as I damn well please. Cryptum and Glasslands are irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

Don't like that? Boo hoo.

Sure they're "canon" but that doesn't mean I have to support them, their existence, or the continued careers of their respective writers.

Or...better yet they could ditch the -blam!- '37 and bring back the old reliable MA5B...

Just sayin'.

But I agree, something should be done with it. I'm in favor of a magazine size increase. 60 rounds with 600 reserve, probably the closest to the "classic" Halo AR.

Thats what I'm saying. You can outskill a guy with the AR if he has an AR. It's an AR duel, so it's even.

But when you kill someone using a DMR at extreme close range, and he has an AR, and that happens regularly, you know something is wrong, since there is no way they were all noobs.

  • 11.24.2010 1:55 AM PDT

Increased magazine size yes.

I don't want to spawn with a weapon I can just stick with for the rest of the game, why?

Because I like to play Halo the way it originally was meant to be played.

  • 11.24.2010 1:57 AM PDT

I agree, it feels like it needs just a tiny upgrade. It shouldn't take a quarter of a clip to kill an unshielded opponent, and it feels ridiculously weak in campaign.
