I'm against magazine size increasing however increasing damage to each of the AR's bullets is an excellent and well thought out idea.

Same here- As I explained, a larger magasine would only encourage spraying.

A damage buff would make it a usefull, more skill oriented weapon.

I'm all for taking the mag size up to 60.

Wouldn't that only promote spraying, while in a one on one not increasing it's effectiveness at all?

Fully agree with you, but I would like to have a tad bigger mag-size also.

Edit: Actually read other posts, forget about bigger mags, just buffin' the AR would be fine! :)

I thought a mag increase would be nice as well, but this way skill would be rewarded, and it would be ballanced with other weapons.

More damage! And that it's seen more around the maps

That too. In non AR start games, you can't pick it up. (Not that you would in it's current state).

A damage increase is imperative.

I remember in Halo 3 I would always stick with my AR. I could consistently beat a BR user with it when in mid-closer range combat. But now it's like unless they don't see you first, you might as well just shoot yourself in the head and get it over with. If the weapons in Reach are supposedly based on distance, then AR should always win at the range it was meant for. You should NOT be able to kill someone easily in CQB with a weapon made for almost sniper range combat. I think the AR could use a damage increase and possibly even 2 more rounds per magazine.

I don't find the extra 2 rounds necessary, but the damage upgrade is a must!

That's the whole point, why put a weapon in the game which is only there to promote pressing Y at the start of the game?

It should be more firmly grounded in it's place in the sandbox.

As far as grounding it in the sandbox goes, perhaps they should make Slayer DMRs like Halo 3's Team BRs. Then you could start with an AR and DMR and it would be in the game more.

"What's so hard about swish swish stab?..."

A few extra bullets would be nice but I find burst fire at long range then a strong hammering at mid/close range finishes the job.

wheres the "no one cares" button?

  • 12.09.2010 4:08 PM PDT

YES

  • 12.09.2010 4:10 PM PDT

Yes.

It should also be a little less accurate, but recover much faster once you stop shooting, further rewarding quick bursts.

The Plasma repeater also needs a damage boost.

Actually, every weapon needs a damage boost, so they can compete with the Needle Rifle and the DMR.

More bullets- leads to spraying.

That's a good tactic, only it tends to work against unsuspecting players and AR users only.

It needs to be more effective.

Kill times are slower in Reach, but the AR is the slowest of the lot!

And about your bloom proposition- it's a good idea :)

No, the kill times of the DMR, Needle rifle, and assault rifle are nearly identical when fired at their maximum rate. The assault rifle, however, can kill faster than both the needle rifle and DMR if all three aren't letting their reticules expand.

But the AR is far less accurate, and offers no headshot multiplier.
