The plasma repeater just needs it's projectiles to move faster.. Sad when you can use your plasma pistol with more success than the repeater

Simple game mechanics.

Then the PR would be the same as the AR, but with no reload and an overheat.

Covy weapons have projectile times to help keep 'variety'.

I'd like it to be hitscan as well though- but how would you make the plasma bolts hit scan?

Maybe just faster instead.

Very well said. I like to use it to take down jetpackers because it is too hard to get headshots sometimes with other weapons.

The Magnum works well for me there, and even though I'm better with the DMR than the Magnum, it works worse against jetpackers.

The AR is good against the more, bluntly stupid, jetpackers, but the better ones tend to get behind cover before the AR can do any real damage.

Increasing the bullet damage will increase the effectiveness of spamming. It improves both spamming and pacing.

A solution to this would be to increase the max bloom. but don't change anything else about the bloom.

It does, no arguing with that. It's just that spraying (or spamming, if you will) is so ineffective at the moment, that it wouldn't matter much (except in CQB where it's supposed to be fired full auto- no one's gonna burst when they are face to face).

But the damage increase would make it matter alot when burst firing at mid range, as it would make every bullet count, and actually do something, other than annoy the other guy.

If i had my way the AR would kill in 20 rounds, have a 60 round mag with a fire rate to match the MA5B in CE, would ditch the huge ammo counter for a rail/ ammo counter (like the DMR) and to put the icing on the cake a 1.00X sight featureing with a slight recoil buff (while stationary), and for good measure a suppresser a la ODST, i would call it .... pause for effect the N6 Custom....

Just because you fail to effectively use the AR doesn't mean it sucks. Statistically, pacing the AR kills faster than the DMR and needle rifle, and it's effective up to the length of 4 grid spaces or 4 warthogs.

The Assault rifle was designed so that respawning player has a weapon which will allow him not to get owned straight away but also not to be to lethal until hes picked up a new weapon.

there is no problem with the AR.

You mean 2x scope.

And that's completely different weapon from the current AR- only similarity is full-auto capability.

A damage buff is all I'd like to give it.

Play the game like it is real; use cover, use teamwork and you will survive.

A dammage buff to 16 rounds for a kill will not make this weapon overpowered or useless, but you will still need to search for a new weapon.

I laugh when someone charges at me with an AR and I kill them with a pistol. The AR is terrible, the exact opposite of Halo 3 where the weapon was very forgiving. I think a balance must be found in between the two. I voted for increase in mag size because I always thought that the CE AR was cool with the large clip.

I think that the boost to damage would make it perfect with the new slower RoF.

Larger mag would promote spraying (holding the trigger and hoping to score hits).

If they changed the bloom to the system shown in this video (albeit not as extreme as shown in the vid), and increased the mag size to 60, I think it'd balance the AR pretty nicely.

The best way to balance the AR is to make it effective close to medium range. I really miss using it.
