Subject: Secret Hex numbers above network status

While playing reach I noticed a list of numbers that appear above the network status on the network status screen that shows your upload bandwith, etc...the numbers appear to be the same for all after talking with a few others online. To view this 'message' press start, navigate to network status and let it sit at that screen for about 15-30 seconds and they will appear at the top. Anyone want to take a crack at decoding this? Id give the list of numbers/letters but its quite hard to read on a CRTV, as I can only make out about half of them, but they are definitely hex (0-9)(A-F)

Edit: got the numbers.(I think) As follows-
9A502F25268746DC371E36D83002BFCA3AB29AF7A500690307DFE231F1E78 E86CF

the numbers may be slightly off so if anyone can double check those on a higher resolution that'd be awesome.

You can not decode with out the full list, because so far what you have put down is just a bunch of symbols and a couple foreign letters.

Then maybe someone can get a more accurate reading from a higher res. tv

I dont know exactly what to call it, but it has something to do with spaggetti, duct tape and razor blades...

I noticed these numbers, too. I couldn't figure out how I got them to appear.

This is interesting. I linked this thread in the Reach thread that's dedicated to finding a Legendary ending, if anything just to get some more eyes on this.

I have completely different numbers show up on mine. I've talked to several friends of mine, and they all have different ones.

  • 11.18.2010 4:10 PM PDT

If you have different numbers than please post the ones that show up for you. I highly doubt this is some sort of unintentional glitch

That's what I got. Don't know if the 0s are meant to be Os or what, though.

I noticed at one point the numbers 343 appear.

Perhaps, it's a serial ID? Unique to your console, or specific network settings?

Probably for network settings. I wonder why there are so few spaces. I am not expert with hexadecimal but isn't it usually like this:

23E4DFF 0D9A 8301 73E8...

or

8326D05 5F 34 E6...

or something with many spaces?

It's gotta mean something.

It'd be great if a Bungie employee would come tell us if this is just a network status or settings code.

That is what I got. Some of the Bs could be 8s and some of the 0s could be Os of course.

I made a similar thread in the Reach forum. I'll gladly organize the numbers and update daily as long as it stays bumped.

It'll be nice to have more eyes on this as long as we can wade through all the flamers and trolls.

My thread is this'a'way.

I think this can be one of three things:
1) A creative menu interface designer who threw in some random code for esthetic purposes
2) A unique id within the "Reach" server your network is pinging at that moment in order to update your network details.
3) Although unlikely if the code is a clue to the "legendary ending", then the last digits after the space could be a key to solving the first string of code. It seems the long string is completely random; however the last part always starts with a letter and the letters and numbers within it appear in the first part.

Non of these "Codes" mean anything, put them through a decoder and you'll get a bunch of random symbols (and I have tried every single one in this thread, even the Binary).
