We are YOUR fans. So why would you make Reach a somewhat decent game instead of a awesome game by trying to appeal to the CoD?
Does anyone else feel slightly betrayed by bungie because of-
-halo reach
-abandoning Halo
- lack of "listening skills" (who actually wants AA?)
-Catering to the wants of the non-halo-fanboy/casual player
-sacrificing Halo canon for a "better" campaign.

I think I can answer everything in one sentence.

'They want(ed) to do something different.'

When a developer says that, that instantly means their game is going to suck.

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

Your being a child.

The Reach Campaign did not break canon as nearly as much as several believe. The Fall of Reach is so outdated and was written in such a Rush it has loads of contradictions to begin with anyway. And if you do not admit that the Campaign was infact (at least) very good, there's something wrong with you.

On the gameplay note, they did something different. This isn't CoD where every game is just a slightly altered version of the one before it. They added several different factors like Load Outs and assassinations, and changed the basic underlying strategy to do something new. If your just complaining because Reach isn't a carbon copy of Halo 3 with better graphics and new maps, GTFO.

Finally accusing Bungie of "not listening" is truly ridiculous. They listen to their fan base more than any other major Console developer.

Anyway, I feel obligated to say something about how fans always feel betrayed when the thing they like is "abandoned" or "disgraced". Personally, I'm just excited to see something new come out of the company. C'mon, they made Halo games for a frackin' decade. Time to move on.

I disagree with everything else entirely.

However, Bungie has never broken canon. Technically, Fall of Reach and First Strike broke canon.

Bungie products ARE CANON. There is NO ARGUMENT ON THE SUBJECT, whatsoever.

Besides, it didn't break canon. All of the events of FOR and FIrst Strike happened, it just stretched the time-table and bent a few events. No event from the books was wiped out.

'Casual' players?

Hmmm.....so lets see. You'd rather Bungie cater to the whining "but I want a golden goose NOW" self-styled hard core players, which make up a tiny tiny fraction of their demographic, and ignore 90% of the fan base?

Cool story.
