We are determined that before the sun sets on this terrible struggle our flag will be recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom on the one hand and of overwhelming force on the other.

Tip of The Spear, a campaign mission in Halo: Reach.
It wasn't the best mission, lack of action, just destroying 2 AA guns and attacking Spire 1.
Good ending cutscene.

My twist, It takes place on a high plateau on the cliffs along an unnamed valley, this is where heavy fighting occured during the Battle of Viery, a major engagement during the Fall of Reach.
The UNSC lost. Afterwards losing multiple generators, thus losing multiple SMACs.

Why fight on some random cliffside when you could be down in the grit of it, destroying the 3 Scarabs instead of mounting a 3-4 man assault on 2 AA guns deployed by Phantoms?

Or Bungie could have made it like so:
Colonel Holland calls in for Noble Team, to hold their assault on the AA Guns, and to directly participate in the Battle of Viery.
Objectives:
Destroy 3 Scarabs supporting Covenant Troops
Assault Covenant Field Command Post
-Sub Objective -- Eliminate Field Marshall
Oobtain Intel in ruins of Field Commabnd Post.

Ending Cutscene --
Carter arrives in a Falcon, grabs Intel from 6's hands. He finds out about a cloaked Supercarrier above the valley, overhead the Frigate Graffton flies above and nuetralizes Spire-1, Carter attemps to halt assault by the Graffton, but its too late, 3 Plasma Torpedos strike the ship followed by a fatal strike from the Suppercarrier.
Carter calls for evac and the cutscene ends with you observing the fighting on the ground, you see the UNSC is losing, 2 more Scarabs push another attack and the mission closes to an end...
