You all seem very knowledgable about PC's and Halo on PC. So I ask you this. Is it worth getting? I am looking for something different to play. I have Halo2 and I love it but I am getting a bit bored at times. I have never had a PC game on my Dell EVER. How would I go about getting into this? Do I need anything special? Just what all can I do with Halo on my PC anyway?

Thanks guys/gals.

Well, to answer your first question, In my opinion, yes. It's worth getting. It provides for an exelent story line and hours of fun on multiplayer. To get Halo for the PC, if they don't have it at a local store, buy it on www.amazon.com. Thier verry relieable. Make sure your computer has the specification to play it. On my computer, It doesn't have the best vedio card. (Remember this is on my computer and all are differient) Anyway, I can still play halo but, people's shields are yellow, the grafics suck, but I still can play. And if your intrested in multiplayer, you need to have internet conection, and it helps if it's fast. Hope you get it.

@SPARTAN 00119: Dude...he wrote stuff on the forum...it`s clear he`s got an internet conncetion...and since he`s probably a US resident(judging by the name) he`s probably got a good connection aswell...not to mention the fact thet he`s got xbox live so no problems there...

@Steve:

Hi dude,

I`ma share with you all that i know about Halo PC. Well first off it would be great if you could post your computer`s specs...to do so press the big button on the bottom left corner of your screen marked "Start" then on the menu that poped up u`ll find the "Run..." button...press that and a window pops up...in the window type "dxdiag.exe" (without the " ") a new window will pop up and from there u get it...proccesor freq, amount of ram, video card name and memory....thats what we need to know.

Now about the game:

Positives:
-Way better graphics then on the Xbox and much higher resolution
-Better sound quality(if you have a kick-ass sound card)
-Faster,more responsive and acurate controlls(mouse & keyboard)
-It`s a PC game :P
-More vehicles in multiplayer(banshee,rocket-hog...)
-More weapons in multiplayer(flamethrower, fuelrodgun from the covie hunters)

Negatives:
-If you got a low to medium system it`ll run like crap
-laggy in multiplayer if you don`t have a damn good net connection
-no away from keyboard kick in multiplayer
-no punk-buster system
-a crapy banning system of team killers online...but i suggest the EU-BUNGIE-CTF servers not to many tk-ers there...
(all this is in comparison to the xbox version of halo 1...not halo 2)

Well, he could be using a library computer, where you can't Instal halo. Don't assume, it makes an ass out of you and me. (get it?) "Ass-u-me" Oh, and I live in europe. My mom's with the department of defence so I live over here. My games are laggy sometimes.

Ok my processor is a P4 2gigahertz, 256 MB ram, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 with 64 MB memory.

Tell me something, would this PC run it good? I am just curious because I may get another PC instead of the Xbox 360.

But I don't know...that 360 will be dang powerful. But I would like to try halo pc, and WoW online.

depending on the proccessor core(i asume it`s a Prescott corein wich case i think it`s a good proccessor)...u`r pc is quite weak...it`ll hanlde halo misserably...u`ll need a minimum of 512 Ram and defenetly a better video card...ATI 9600 minimum...i suggest the X700 AGP or a new nVidia fgx7700 GT(this card rocks)

If u`r thinking of buying a new desktop i suggest a Dell XPS or if you have a bucket-o-cash get an Alienware desktop...they don`t get much sweeter then this :)

Good luck with u`r future plans of gaming and such...and i do recomend a PC not a console...think about it...consoles are unupgradable,no acces to the internet in the extent of a PC,it`s limited music, video and gaming features...plus u can make money with a the PC

Yeah I knew my PC was weak, an XPS though is out of my price range. The 360 might not be upgradeable but it blows any pc away with its power. But this Halo on pc sounds cool with all you can do and add to it. I have to think about it.

See ya and thanks for the info.

Actualy an xbox 360 ain`t dust when compared to a piece of Alienware hardware...but screw that with like 1000 bucks u could upgrade u`r PC to make it fly...specialy in the US where u guys have great component prices! i mean 100 bucks for 1 gb of ram pc3200?! FFS!!! we give like 200 to 300 euros for that here! it`s a damn ripoff.

You can make a sweet pc for around a grand. Look on newegg.com if you live in the us, cause they have the best prices most of the time. Halo doesn't require as good a video card as WoW does, if you are looking to play with good graphics, an Nvidia 6600 or ATi 700 are the minimum for good graphics on the newst games.

Well what if you guys did me a favor (which would be way cool) and look at Dell and tell me which of the least expensive would run it? I just don't know. I want another PC anyway because I am tired of fighting over this one with the wife :)

Sure thing dude... i think this one would suit your needs well:

http://ecomm.dell.com/dellstore/basket.aspx?c=us&cs=19&am p;l=en&s=dhs&itemtype=CFG

If the link don`t work then i`ll just tell you what the system is and what i selected for it:

XPS 400
Pentium® 4 Processor 540 w/HT Technology (3.2GHz, 800FSB), Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
19 inch Ultrasharp™ 1905FP Digital Flat Panel
256MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X600 SE HyperMemory
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability
Sound Blaster® Audigy®2 ZS (D) Card w/Dolby 5.1, and IEEE 1394

It`s not the best i guess but it`s quite damn good and it runs Halo PC and way more...it`s not half bad for 1,259.00$ now is it?

Regards,

Sebastian

X600SE is a POS. I'm not kidding, anything with SE means "Special Edition" - ie toned down a lot. Don't just look at the memory, the actual GPU on the card, as well as the memory bus, is pretty poor. You won't grab more than 20-30fps on lower resolutions, and that's on Halo. If you want to play any up and coming games, it may not be able to handle them that well.

If anything, get a pc with a 6600GT. That is a great card for the price - not as expensive as the top end, but the performance is very close and better than most mid-range cards.

I forgot to ask. If you look at my earlier posts you see my PC's stats. What do you reccomend I get to upgrade? And I mean on the low end I am hurting for $$$$$ at the moment.

I would say a new video card and some more ram. I bought an ATI Radeon 9600 video card and added 512 mb of ram. This mad a huge difference in my gameplay.

The video card cost me 125.00 and my ram cost 115.00, (ram bought from dell.)
