Aesthetics in a game are more pleasing then actually having to give them purpose. Why is Emile have tons of grenade launcher rounds yet only uses a shot gun?
I was disappointed by that actually - in the Battle Begins trailer, we see the scene from the beginning of Pillar of Autumn, where he is trying to take out the two banshees with a GL from the back of a Pelican - and from this, I thought we'd seem him with it all game, slinging shells across the map.

Nope, he uses it there, fires a single round, drops it in the Pelican and then leaves it behind. At no previous point in the game does he use it, either.
Jorge's Grenadier armour was odd as well, considering his sole weapon was a heavy machine gun - no explosives whatsoever.

I'm sorry, but this just seems to be an utterly useless thing to complain about. No offense OP, but sometimes games have to be geared towards casuals too; the ghille is just an aesthetic hint.

It's ironic how similar the bloom reaction is to the BR Spread reaction.

I agree that it is a little ridiculous being so small, but it would not be useless. Despite having an impressive visual presence, Spartans are very good at remaining unseen. I imagine that is serves the simple purpose of breaking up the classic Spartan profile, making Jun just that little but harder to identify in the brush.

A full ghillie suit would probably be unnecessary, as a Spartan is unlikely to sit in one spot for days on end, as a more vulnerable soldier would have to, and I think it might even get in the way when it comes to doing every day tasks like dealing with electronic terminals.

I think it's simply to keep traditional sniper ghillie in the mix.

In fairness, I actually was.

Pointless things get me pissed.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

While it would arguably have no effect on combat related to covenant, it should be noted that the most recognizable part of the human silhouette is the contrast between the head and the shoulders. This means that even if the rest of his body is plainly visible, it would still make him appear less human at great distances.

Not that combat in halo ever does take place at realistic combat distances so the point is moot. Either way, it communicates a fairly clear image to player, which is the whole point of the stylized asthetic that halo goes for.

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

It's called scrim and it's a type of netting used to cover the head - the idea is that you're lying down or standing behind cover and only your shoulders and/or head are showing - srim is meant to be minimal to allow unaffected movement while creating effective camoflage.

This has to be it.

EDIT: Also what the guy above said.

I am human, I am good and bad as well. But I try my hardest to stay good. And some of the things I do and say may be bad. Or just not too good, but I do try.

So with that said I don't fault you. I mean your only human, good or bad.

Stat and Sig

Its just an armor permutation? Cosmetics? your taking this way to seriously.

I put the laughter in manslaughter

I dont think Jun takes his gille suit with him everywhere, i imagine it would get wrecked through all the chaos.

Yes, I suck at multiplayer. If you're going to remind me of it, do so cleverly and creatively so that I too may revell in my own suckitude.

I think we're looking at it the wrong way. Why would Jun put it there? Probably because it makes him look more badass in his mind.

It's so that it gets rid of one of the most distinctive parts of a human silhouette, the shoulders and neck. It also seems to cover the lights on the armor.
