Is it possible that the host of a game gets an advatage somehow? Sometimes when people join the servers I have created they complain that I am cheating (which I would never do), because I am able to kill them relatively easily. Does this just have something to do with the host having less lag, or is it something more than that?

Yes, generally the host has 0 ping which equals less lead on you'r shots. If they are claiming that you are a cheat, it just show their lack of inteligence on the game. Don't sweat it, it is an advantage you will have no matter what you do.

If they complain about it, tell them to host the games instead. I mean, they're complaining about an advantage they could easily have themselves!

I guess if they've got monster pings it's a problem, but I average about 30-50 nowadays, so the host advantage isn't noticeable to me, at least.

^^^^ i see ya point but i also get around 50-60 ping but i do have to lead much more then i had 30 ping or zero. On the main point dude do seat it its not your fualt and the people that tel you that tell them or back off or ban them :) Which i think you can do if you create you own game.

Thanks for the info guys, that is what I figured. And SLD, that is interesting, because I never noticed the advantage when I went to other servers either, but I guess it must be due to my low pings (I average about the same as you, 30-50), so that explains that as well.

the "host" advantage also makes you stronger (each time you hit them it takes more damage away and each time they hit you it takes less damage away)

No, thats not true. Host advantage does not change the amount of damage the host gives/takes. That rumor probably started because the host has 0 ping, so he gets his shot off faster. Two players might click at the same time, but the host will actually shoot before the other player because of the ping.

Yes I agree, everyone but the host experiences a "ping delay." The host takes the same amount of damage as everybody else.
