Which level had your favorite environment and scenery? I meshed together two pairs because I can only put so many options and they take place on the same general environments. I didn't combine "The Pillar of Autumn" and "The Maw" because the atmosphere is vastly different.

I liked "The Silent Cartographer" the most. It wasn't my favorite level, but it was up there, and I enjoyed the way the island was set up. And the amphibious Warthog and Marines....

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'm stuck between Halo and The Silent Cartographer... Neither were my favourite levels, but the environments were absolutely breathtaking.

I liked the Maw's environment, was weird to see sleek and shiny Pillar of Autumn suddenly all battered and bruised..

This was a hard pick for me, but I ended up picking Halo. When I first played through the game, I was literally jaw dropped by the scenery of that level. The sheer scope of the views, whether it was the long views of the ring bending upwards into the distance or the planet in the background. The actual battle environments were almost all outside, which I prefer, and hearing the birds and the wind when nobody was firing off rounds, it just made for a really cool environment.

AotCR and 2 Betrayals have large outside maps as well, but they lack the open feel that Halo has. I do admit that the battles at the spiral and just after are 2 of my favorites, but they are just a bit more claustraphobic than Halo's battle locations.

For gruesome or anxiety producing areas, the top is the "screw you" elevator in GSpark, that goes down rather than up. I remember feeling physically ill that first time. You get to that elevator and figure, GREAT I am out! Yeah, not quite, my stomach dropped and I wanted to hit something when that platform went downski.......bad memories (actually, great memories, but of a baaaaaaaaaaaad thing!)

All in all, I love the scenery and environments of the game, all of them. I know that some people hate the repetitive aspects of some levels, or the lack of variation in certain structures, but I think those people are overlooking alot of the detail that is there. Use your eyes and your ears, and the power scopes and you will see many things you did not notice before.

The Silent Cartographer as I remember looking up at the stars and pausing and saying to myself OMG I think I in love.

Halo.
When you irst step out of the lifepod it was an OMFG moment. You cross that little footbridge and it spawns the Banshees screaming down the canyon. Deal with those and the dropship's fire team is breathing down your neck.
Halo was vast, wide open space. Seemed like it anyway. It is not as big as most people think. Just extremely well constructed to give you that impression.
I like getting on top of that mountain in the hog and then sniping the bejesus out of the covies on that large structure perched on the cliff. Great fun and large enough to allow you almost limitless adaptability in your approach.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

"Halo" is definitely the most memorable level because of it's environment. Though, all of the levels are beautiful. :p

Soon to be breaking news:

AotCR great snowy enviroment and beutiful indoor citadels. And i cant believe nobody said the library. Sure its repetive, but the forerunner technology is creepy and cool, especially those blue shiny things.

I'd say Halo. When I got out of that ship, my jaw dropped to the ground. It was the most beautiful game I had ever seen that time.

My favorite group.

AotCR and Two Betrayals. Halo came close, but seeing that snowy, mysterious landscape gets me every time.

"343 Guilty Spark"

I liked Two Betrayals best, it was my favorite level in reverse AND it was night-time. I wish there were more night missions or even options for it in Forge. I think there should have been more night missions in the games following HCE, and Reach's night mission (I forgot the name already lol) just doesn't do it for me.

"343 Guilty Spark"

I'd have to go with this. It's atmosphere succeded at being creepy. The fog, the radio transmission from the pelican, music, and flood silhouttes you would see on the hills.

Then you would continue inside the Covenant facility, which was quiet except for a few grunts and jackals. The only thing to hint you to what happened were bodies, blood, and the marine blaring nonsence you could peice together as something took his squad. And then there's the famous helmet cam scene.

It was a very different change from the big, beutiful landscapes to this dark, cramped, creepy swamp. I liked it.

343 Guilty Spark. I think it was the best in terms of atmosphere. All the dense fog, the creepy swamp, the ambient sounds....
