...and I found it to be meh. No, I'm not delusional, high, or mentally handicapped. This is my honest opinion, and please don't flame me for it.Fair enough.
I went into the game, really trying to like it and hyped about it, after hearing what the forums have to say about it. It let me down terribly. That's too bad.
- Hit detection was terrible (yes, I have good aim), but it might be because of my connection, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.Your aim isn't the problem. Halo: CE had no netcode due to being released before X-Box Live, and was a simple port to the PC. The lag is something everyone has. It just means you have to lead all your shots.
- Vehicles were messed up. Some guy always went around in a Warthog and managed to splatter everyone easily. The physics of the vehicles, primarily the Warthog, were messed up as well. I glance off a rock, and I go tumbling. Sometimes, I got splattered by my own vehicle when I got flipped. The vehicle thing is normal. Any movement by a vehicle will kill you. That's what I love about it. Vehicles are dangerous.
- Spawning is terrible. Almost every single time I spawned, I spawned within Plasma Pistol firing distance of an enemy. I also cannot count the number of times I splattered a guy who just spawned right in front of me.True enough, but you have an M6D and grenades for a reason.
- Weapon balance was atrocious. Everyone used the Magnum, it wasn't even funny. No other non-power weapons were even being used. The so-called powerful AR that I kept on hearing about was useless at every range besides close quarters; it was that inaccurate. Burst firing didn't help that much, since the pistol could do it quicker and faster. The Assault Rifle is CQB only, though a good player(*cough*myself*cough*) can beat an M6D at medium range with it. As for everything else, they're niche weapons. Shotgun and Assault Rifle are better at CQB than the M6D. Sniper is better at long range than M6D. Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol stun, even vehicles, and are best for taking down shields.
- Pistol was OP. A three shot kill, scoped, rapid-firing gun that you spawn with? Tell me that's not OP. And kill times edged along the "too fast" category. Often times, I killed a guy before he even turned around to face me. It's really not that hard to aim, either, like the community said it was.Everyone starts with an M6D, which means you can fight back. You don't have to shoot first to win in this game. And if he didn't turn around, it means he's bad.
- Teammates were the worst I've ever encountered. Perhaps this is the community's problem, not the game's, but I met betrayers, weapon stealers, lone wolves, and general oblivious players almost every game I went into. You'll find that everywhere. The trick is to go through servers until there aren't any of them.
Don't get me wrong, the CE campaign was pretty good. Not the best, IMO, but still good; I enjoyed playing co-op on it a lot. It's just that the multiplayer portion of it was not as good, in fact, it was undeserving of almost all the hype that I received. I was expecting a good, if not great, MM experience; instead, I got something worse than any MM game I've played. That's fair enough, everyone knows what they like. When you get a couple decent players on each team, it's fantastic. An actual warzone.
