Ya, your computer isn't very good for the newer graphic technologies (new games). I got 5150 or something.

Spam, don't we all hate it?

Anyways, 200 marks in '05?

Hmm, I didn't think an FX5200 was compatible in '05...

The nvidia FX series (nvida 5200 to 5700) isn't very good at all. I have the 5700 and i can barely play battlefield2 on medium setting and F.E.A.R. on low/medium.

But since i have a pci slot i have to get a new mobo.

syst specs

Intel p4 1.8ghz

Ram 512mb NON DDR

Geforce fx 5200 128 mb

Plastic case

try to beat that... I doubt any one passed 100

I'm not trying to flame, but your the one who posted that Nvidia and Intel was the way to go. Now seeing how bad your pc actually is (no offense), I don't wonder why you said that.

Just to let you know if you got 100 thats very bad. My computer gets over 7000 every time. Yes thats in thousands, not hundreds.

Yes it is half life 2 can be played on highest settings

I highly doubt that. Theres no way. I had the fx 5700 which was 256mb and it could barely run medium settings. I had more ram, and a faster cpu.

WTF Postacular! I only have 512 mb of ram. Its the chipset, not the speed that makes the card most of the time, that is why a 7800 is better than a 6800.

lol sorry for the spam. I would forget to add something, so then i reposted. and yes it never occurred to me to just edit my posts. haha

The chipset is basically the card. When you say i have a 7800gtx, you are referring to both the chipset and the card. Technically the 7800GTX is actually the chipset, but people get lazy and don't say the manufacture.

For instance EVGA 7800GTX is a cards full name (the 7800GTX part is the chipset)

Basiaclly the number on any card is the chipset. 7800GT, 7800GTX, X1800XT, X850XTPro, X800XL, 6800GT, 6800 Ultra > they all the chipsets of a card.

Which is why an underpowered 6800 still outperforms a 5200.

I don't beleive so, there are certain 3D tests that the program performs; complex algorithms, pre-pixel lighing effects, ragdoll calculations....

It all boils down to the type of DirectX and OpenGL version (also which Shader Model version) you have that allows for these tests.

So...take a Radeon 9200 for example, try to test that in 3DMark05, it won't work, just for the sole fact that the 9200 lacks DX9 support and rather has DX 8.1 architecture built in.

Now, I don't know about nVidia cards, but I didn't think that the FX series (save the 5700) was capable of DX9; turns out that I was wrong.
