I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

First off I would like to mention that I will not be draged into a 'breach of cannon debate'

Now that that is out of the way, in the limited and legendary edition of halo reach doctor halsys journal is featured but in all the content with aditional documents (pictures and newspapers) a planet and its subsequent destruction is continusly referred to, that planet is called bliss. Unlike all the other refrences in the journal and aditional content bliss is described in explicit detail, is this because halsey is close to many people stationed there? Just to take the proverbial cake halsey sketches a naval battle between UNSC and covenent forces above bliss that ilustrates captin keys destroying a covenent destroyer and two covenent frigates, while the carrier (not classed probaly a assault or light) escapes. Another peice of evidence that there is a connection between reach and bliss is the so called Accra incident where 45 covenent vessels exit splipstream and destroyed the UNSC ships sent to prevent them reaching the surface of bliss, then the covenent vessels begin military operations on bliss and eventually glass the place. That covenent fleet was comprised of five assualt carriers, twenty three battle cruisers and seventeen destroyers. Please note that two UNSC heavy cruisers engaged the covenent fleet (pillar of autumn class?) aided by one (presumably heavy) frigate. The third peice of evidence for a connection between reach and bliss is an inclueded document from the press, this document tells us the date of the battle on bliss 26 feb 2526. Unfortunatly this is all the document tells us. The final peice of evidence is in halseys diary wheere she states and I qoute "a alien covenent single handedly solved our civil war" this indicates that bliss was the first non-classified planetary excursion with the covenent and as such is a very important date for the UNSC

After giving you a chance to read the evidence my question is this, does Reach reference the next halo game?

I think I heard Bungie say they're going to do something completely new.. Nice idea though!

But the Covenant solved out civil war by uniting everyone (well, most) against them instead of eachother.

I was not nessacerily referring to bungie but it would be nice to play as a kick-ass spartan two that is totally unstoppable even without sheilds :) go 343!

how?!? It is part of halo cannon that bliss fell in 2526 but if you are not referring to bliss, whats the point the halo story is untaped to its full potential and it was more fun when humanity was the underdogs I wouldn't pick up a halo game if it was set when humans have forerunner tech unless it had a super-great-ausome-kickass reveiw or there was flood. Just on the off chance you are talking about returning to bliss what is the point unless you are versing brutes (set as you said in 2580)

I put the laughter in manslaughter

reading through an old halo manual, I found the circle with reach.

after the fall of reach, you see the Pillar of Autumn heading towards a halo.
that ends the reach game.

halo: combat evolved starts with the Pillar of Autumn heading towards a halo and being attacked by the covenant.
....
Seriously though, I heard one dude talking about a theory about master chief going back in time (due to the ending of halo 3) and how he fires the halos for the first time. It was based off of how 343 guilty spark told master chief that "he already fired the rings once before"
that would be a badass game. playing master chief as the forerunners race to complete the halos, facing a huge onslaught of flood.

second attempt to write a reply.

I think I read about that thread nice idea its possible though I doubt it as oracles can suffer from slight emotions. e.g. promethues (instellation 05 monitor) felt regret and anger towards the gravemind.
Personally I would like a game set around the conflict on bliss, here is a breif bullet point list:
. Both UNSC and covenent was more into spec ops as neither side understood each other well
. UNSC had spartan II at almost full strengh (numbers)
. UNSC had no sheilds (return of ODST stamina system) also the stamina system allows player to feel something to AI that die as it feels more like luck that they died and you survived somewhat (higher positive interaction between secondary and teriary freindly AI)
. Elite renaissance style energy sword
. Rodant, hawk and hornet vehicles (rodant is a experimental version of the mongoose for ODST strike teams, halo encyclopedia)
. elites are ausome
. grunts not re-refferred as cannon fodder, more standard riflemen grunts and spec ops grunts
. Halo 1 and 2 elites (with modifications) look kick ass

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Hmm. The Master Chief/Forerunner thing is a pretty dang cool idea. If you know Halo Legends, then that backs up your point.
