dude that was funny video. and helpful. skip to the last two paragraphs if you're not a big reader.
indeed there is no bridge between the mods and the commoners; its the governing system that is somewhat flawed.
this community is most like primitive tribal councils...that have been abandoned the minute a lack of respect arises. like now.
so then you see several levels of moderators in each chapter, with the more common ones having less power, and one or two sharing ultimate power. time tested and true, in the middle ages. you might see this in a lot of chapters these days...but its really not a good system as far as the community goals are concerned...too much restriction and favoritism.
then you have the Western Civ approach- one ultimate mod, several hundred lesser ones, and then a dozen or so middle mods, all with different powers form each other. you might recognize this as the american political system, or the greek, or the roman. it works, or at least has worked, for the last two thousand years.
or there is the old dictatorship, with one mod having ultimate power, and having a handful of henchmen underneath him to take care of things. that would be most unfortunate.
but the mods here do well. im sure they have schedules and whatnot to make sure someone is on at all times...but i think the truth is they cant catch everything. and with the maturity level in here, that is costly, on a small and insignificant level. like kids not respecting their elders...the elders of this community whine amongst themselves.
perhaps a solution could be figured out. the karma system administered by moderators would be nice for that...with extremely high positive ratings gaining certain powers...or at least the power of respect. the community would probably be that much better for it.
just a thought.
