Long thread, but it's worth it. If your attention span is that short, read the first section at minimum, But I'd rather you read the entire thing. Too long anyways? I suggest reading section by section, all worth it.
BUT PLEASE, POST IF YOU HAVE VIEWED, IT MIGHT CHANGE MY DECISION TO NOT MAKE THE LARGEST OVERHAULS THIS THREAD HAS SEEN.

Alright now, I've been with the Halo franchise for quite a long time.
I've loved everything so far, but Reach seems to be in a bad position. Black Ops is here, I'm not going to make a huge opinion here, but they kicked our ass. But, since literally, the fall of Reach (We're ranked third on Xbox live as for now) really killed us, I am here to see what I can do and contribute for the future of Halo, and 343/Bungie.

By the way, I finally cared enough to change the title's from Halo 5 to Halo 4.

PLEASE check back often, It's incredibly painful watching other threads pile on top of this one. Do your best to keep this alive, I don't really want to just constantly post on this thread and feed this thread to the mod's banhammer shack. I'll be making constant updates on this to keep Bungie prepared on their next game, I heard word that Bungie might be doing one last Halo. That's why I'm making this post, so this shouldn't be off-topic in any way.

I would be happy to take suggestions, thank you, as each post and contribution to this thread has potential to completely change the next installment. Doesn't that make you feel important?
Make suggestions and corrections, if the game comes out bad, and Bungie follows to our standards, it's your own fault, so edit while you can.

Thinking of N zombies, I relate to Halo that of how to integrate, and an idea hits me...
Flood. Yes, the flood! How could this idea have eluded Bungie for this long? It is a wonderful idea, floodfight.
Not firefight, but in it's own category, to ensure firefight playlists don't get floodfight chosen all the time.
This new playlist will be centered around fighting the flood.
I have a few ideas.

Music:
Flood music in Defense gametypes.

Things like "Reclaimer" will be played when in Infestation gametypes. Perhaps only when in a vehicle. I would be amazed it if the spectre came back. It was a hog on steroids but more preferable in my eyes. Piloting the spectre with "Reclaimer" in the background was one of the many joys in Halo 2.

Elements of the game:
Like in Invasion slayer, if you manage to hold an objective for long enough against the flood, you get rewards.
The further out from where you started, the better the reward, but only in Defense gametypes. (Look below)

Vehicles= A flaming, heavily damaged and also seemingly infected pelican (Hopefully next Halo we have something new as transport) drops off your prize. If you watch, it will crash before clearing the horizon.

Troops= ODST's drop in from HEV's. If the player(s) is an elite, a few elites might drop down. They can be infected if you don't keep them safe, as well as anyone. Drops are essentially random, you may get ten grunts or three Army Troopers. If you get lucky enough you'll get a Spartan or a gold elite.

Weapons= An ordnance drop by a longsword is made, and it will streak past you, dropping your prize. It will streak past extremely close to the ground. Maybe a mile up. The closer the better.

Your dead body can be easily infected by flood spores-
As can everything alive/dead.

Gametypes:
Defense type-Easy enough to understand, it's like firefight. Survive.

Infestation-This is almost like the last mission of CE to three, but you don't have an obligation to grab a vehicle. You can take a hike, but it's going to be heckuva hard. You get no stockpile, but enough vehicles to support your team.

This gametype will have... Hopefully not just four players.
If four players is a must, that's alright, but not suggested.
I find the idea of 16 player floodfight very intriguing.

Flood Spawning
-Flood Dispersal Pods [like on Halo 3's last mission]
-Running in from fog
-Jumping from rooftops

Bonus round-Either means raining carrier forms and/or infection forms.
Pros: When the bonus round ends, all the infections forms could give a satisfying and huge pop, like a wave.
-OR-
Just the hunter forms appear.

An infected gueta as a new Flood enemy is applicable for Bonus round, or just a new enemy.

Flood Dispersal Pods will be annnounced by a screeching whine as they fall from the sky. This is as to not destroy unaware players. New waves of Flood are announced by bloodcurdling screeches as they enter the battle zone.

As per EpicCombo
If you exit out of bounds, instead of death, you will spontaneously combust into a flood, thus making it slightly harder for teammates.
It would be applicable if being out of bounds would cause "You must cleanse this infestation for the glory of the great journey!" or "Get back in the fight soldier!"


Endings
Win- a phantom/pelican will arrive at your base, or either be waiting at your destination depending on gametype, and you'll have to just hop on ^_^
Losing will result in a few flood infected Human and Covenant capital ships trailing through the air and spewing flood everywhere.
You have no life pool, healthpacks and weapon drops solves the issue.
Endnote: We're going to need a hell lot more kinds of flood.

You are making very good suggestions. I really would like 343 to make a good Halo game considering the story. As Reach was bit of a let down with the story part. I would like classic Halo music back. The music is the thing that makes campaign so much better.
What comes to the music there should be some soundtracks that are bit more joyful. I hope that a miracle happens and Marty was making music for next Halo games too. If not at least bring back some old soundtracks.

I would certainly agree for soundtracks to make returns, like from Halo 2?

But of course, we would all love it if music made returns, and campaigns were as thoughtful as Halo 2's, but with enviroments mixed with The halo before halo in some situations

And let's not make marines expendable, shall we? In prior we felt we had a duty to protect them, but now they're all expendable, much more boring.
For example, Emile was the last guy I could cling onto, and he had a certain degree of friendship between the gamer.
In Halo: CE when the Marines were picked up I was immediately like "Nooo!!!!" Not myself to fend against them!!
The covenant were real aliens bastards and had a degree of "wtf?" but now, (Appreciating your spending time on AI scripts) the covenant is just annoying for concussion rifle spam, nothing is scary. Difficulty has nothing to do with being alien.

The feeling between the flood, the covenant, and marines was different.
Let's try to recreate that from prior times. They were more feared and they weren't pansies- I want it to be not as hard as Reach's campaign might be, I would prefer it slightly easier~to ensure a necessary grasp on gameplay. Each death detaches the gamer from the story. Normal needs to be hard, but deaths need to be rather around one or two. In Halo: CE it wasn't exactly hard, but it was epic.

I understand plainly why Halo: Reach was on one disc, and no, not Microsoft's problem. I see Bungie's reasoning, but there is a thing here.

For the next installment, we MUST set aside an element of Halo, to make way for much goodness and space.

We must sacrifice forge, and put it on another disc. We have to make space for the rest of the disc to allow for other significant and important improvements.

There is no way we can keep Forge on one disc. We need the space, and throwing out another mis-received Halo game isn't going to be good. Let's keep our hopes.

Plus, 4 GB of forge-goodness?
HELL-YEAH!!!


My idea is to turn Halo: Reach forge into Gmod, to an extent where if they don't like the game, they can play the game just for forge.

Who objects? KILL HIM WITH A CROWBAR!
-Also, setting aside campaign or lowering graphics is absolutely necessary. These are the things that we love, but are not neccecary, no one would trash the game because "OMFG! THIS GAME IS 1079 PIXELS, BUNGIE IS -blam!-!"
Or "DAMN IT, I NEVER PLAY CAMPAIGN, BUT I HAVE TO SWAP DISCS, MUST COMPLAIN TO BUNGIE"
No, and this will never happen. This is nothing of a problem, just of convenience in sacrifice for an evident Game of the Year.

In regards of Disc placement, this is a compilation of Forge concepts.
I dub thee, music oracle
Certainly a great idea, but I would like to be able to alter the parameters of the music broadcast.
It would... say take the shape of the oracle with music notes swarming around him like a Halo.

Instead of the kill barriers with the skull, I would suggest an oracle, but red, like in Halo 3's last level.

As per Wild Pig Man
I want some architectually different stuff. i dont want everything to be cube'ish. and some animating options like make objects move.

Also forgable odst drop pods because they are a pain to make. Also a more dramatic color change more than just lights on a wall. another thing ive noticed, for some reason lights dont work on split screen that should be fixed.
More lights should be enabled also. and for fx there should be a night time one.
I like forge world but there should be multiple forge world for different climates, tundra, jungle, desert and urban!

And back to forge, placable water! I want to spawn trees! and im sure its obvious to everyone MACHINIMAS! make it so you can go hand to hand. maybe you hold "Y" and you go hand to hand.(punching people would also just be plain fun) and make it so you can sit. and make things do the opposite of late spawn, make them disapear after a while!

I would say it being centered around either when after Master Chief goes into cryo in Halo 3 (Legendary ending) or Ghosts of Onyx.


I still insist that like in a popular thread before Halo: Reach launched, they suggested a menu system similar to Perfect Dark.
It is suggested to review the thread again, and consider options.

As per CookieDMR: Next game: If ghosts of onyx is used they should give a cloaking ability like the Arbiter's in Halo 2.
Just a really short amount of time, say 10 seconds.


General gameplay
We should have another level like in The Ark, when something cool happens. Say, the frigate comes in, but with a far more dramatic event. Much, much more.
But things like this are unacceptable XD.


ARMORY 2.0
For the Armory, Credits should now be earned one of two ways:
Either "split the screen" into two, one side for ELITE credits, and one side for SPARTAN credits. I guess you should receive the "same" amount of credits, but the elites should get what is called "stocks", and those differ from credits.
Say if you get one kill in this match, say you get 50 credits.
In elite stocks, maybe less, maybe more, but still the same, as the items in the armory will be priced same in ratio.

EITHER-You receive credits for playing as an elite/spartan in that gametype to spend credits on.

Thus, we now have elite customizations, in the exact same way as Spartans. No more selecting from a limited category!

BTB=Big team battle

300Playlist (Bungie make sure copyrights don't inflict) BTB
Everyone with Jackal shields, no explosives, if you find a group of your mateites, you can "Hold X to shield stack", like in the movie 300 they stack into a box with their shields.
So you can stack in various ways, and it takes a moment to mount up so you stack in the direction your left thumbstick faces. The person highest up top/middle facing the enemy base controls movement. It becomes a huge ginourmous shield vehicle.
Pwnsome much?

Ninja slayer
Only assassinations-
Active camo, no motion trackers. Katana as weapon. Yeah, bad-ass katana.

Scarab Assault BTB
This game is centered around destroying your opponent's scarab.
On a team, six spawn in the scarab. (Halo 2 format)
Two spawn in the vehicle department, with air vehicles. This is essential for boarding your opponent's scarab.

ODST-BTB
Drop out of H.E.V.
You can control your flight, as in direction-but only a tiny bit.
Everyone has ODST armor. ODST silenced SMG, weapons can be found on the map. If possible, integrate covenant AI for more fun.

Dogfight BTB
Easy enough, phantoms and pelicans, or if anything new is introduced.


Escort 16-8
Escort a civilian transport in a pelican. Your elite counterparts will attempt to destroy the transport in their phantom.

Capturing objectives will be different. Instead of just standing meaninglessly teabagging while inside the objective, it will be truly on team coordination. That means you USE A MIC.
What is new, is just like how Kat hacks her stuff.
You have to go up to your objective, and actually HACK it. you access it, and are unable to shoot. It enters a terminal-like screen, but perhaps on a smaller scale to retain environmental awareness.

Also: Invasion is not going to be centered around "Stay in circle" "Steal core" "Win".
Now, it will be built around a variation of things, such as the thread here.

Objectives are now different, and for example the thread linked above will be "Desperate Measures" rather just a variation on maps.
-Steal the core
-Destroy the reactor
-Desperate measures
-Classic invasion
-etc.

Remove generator defense and replace with space firefight.
Space combat is an essential in the next game, I say do anything to squeeze any bit of it into multiplayer. Do a poll to see what can be sacrificed for disc space or something, ask the guys who are on their Xbox with no linked gamertag or idea of what Bungie.net is, large balanced polls FTW.

Yeah, spawns are a serious issue, but there's nothing wrong with just spawning in docks.
To lift off, just move the thumbstick forward, but you can't stay in dock too long. After a while, countdown timer starts for auto-lift off.
We can always figure out a way for spawns, as long as the map is large enough... then-

PLASMA NEEDS TO BE IN TERMS OF SPEED, EQUIVALENT TO BULLETS, WE SEE PLASMA BLAZING PAST AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN LIVE ACTIONS!

Space combat could integrate a Star Wars battlefront like issue.
Cruisers and corvettes will be the spawns, I'm wondering if we should be allowed to dock combat vessels on ships, and be allowed to kill the operator, and actually pilot the ship's GUNS. Integrating this might be tricky, and can be disregarded, however.

This game type should allow for more players. This is crucial, I think?

I would say only a slayer game is applicable to this, objectives would be hard to integrate.
But things like destroying the other team's ship would be possible.

For the Holidays or on special Bungie celeberated days, a few things-
On Bungie day or some holliday, punching a dead corpse and holding down the meele button will cause your charachter will go into an animation humiliating the dead body until you press another button. Humiliation animation, as in my avatar :D

On Halloween, humiliation is to replace a dead body's head with a pumkin.

On outdoor maps on christmas, assassinations will cause a lightning bolt to strike your victim.

this ideas are awesome and i got an awesome idea for a flood remember the fourth part of halo:reach campaign that comes like 2 giant monsters there where easy to kill but infected can be a bit of a challenge thats just an idea.another is to make like another game of halo:reach but in another point of view like what happen in another part of the planet. planet reach is pretty big for just 6 spartans. what happend in the other parts of the planet? people want to know. did the infection got to reach? did there where more spartans in reach? obiosly yes. but is pretty bad because bungie is not making no more halo games thats sad 10 years making halo games but from time to time i say that bingie DID a great job

I have an idea for a infestation map. You start out in a house with some basic weapons and a warhog with two mongooses. There will also be some other houses but each one is randomized and may contain flood,weapons,both and etc. You then have to make it to a drop ship to escape but then a flood pod hits it and then it crashes into the ground. Then you have the following choices:

Each person gets to vote.

1.Wait for a second dropship(maybe another map where your dropship crashes. Then you have to take a weapon from the flood)

2.Survive

3. Escape by vechicles to a outpost or a city(maybe another map could be tied to this like cod zombies did)

HALO: CE
In the production of Reach, Bungie discovers an element that they have lacked in Halo 3. No longer in Halo 3 was an environment that made things seem like it was not designed for you, but as a map.
Things were set, and there were simply objectives. In Halo: CE every nook and tunnel was worth looking at if you chose to, but in Reach they simply did not reproduce it in equal terms. It was different.
Before we discuss any games further, we look back into, "the Halo before Halo"-
An unreleased game, no flood, no human master chief, and a step back in time of the Halo franchise. Go to youtube and look for "The Halo before Halo"
You should find a few results. Watch them closely.
We notice, the geometries of environment is quite vast. It is not a contained, defined map with nothing but an objective, exploration has potential if you choose to ignore the objective.
In Reach, I must say Bungie is trying to stick an arm into someone's leg here. It is a mixed up version, some parts were superb which I loved and some a Frankenstein creation.


But anyways, Bungie tried to remake elements like in Halo: CE.
I must say, it didn't work

But, a must have is more longswords and other vheicles streaking past in the sky, doing close combat to ground, and that we can observe. Now that's, bad-ass.

The game needs more freedom. I want to have time to look at the skyboxes.
I want to look at the marines, smell the flowers, in Halo: CE flawless cowboy had the most element of freedom I think, you were in a vast world.
Quite vast.

Either a vast world full of greatness, or produce it in such a way, it s gameplay has such immenseness.

I don't want anymore gritty Halo games. I like the story as it was in the original trilogy. What comes to the music there should be some soundtracks that are bit more joyful. i like this idea i have pondered stuff about the next halo also, my idea was to put all halos together into one super halo and as for reach put it through what Master Chief did instead because im sure people dont want to do it again. improve some of the story missions. another feature that i always thought would be nice is playing as anything, like playing as a grunt, or brute, or jackal, or marine as well as the accustomed elites and spartans. also to bring back the dropped weapons(vehicles too) and actually bring in the machete! and as for armor abilities, they're fun and dandy but, just sprint would do. the floodfight sounds fun.they should also put pilotable pelicans. as for forge, im a huge forger i have no more forge space on halo 3... lol yeah. the whol other disc would be amazing!!!!! and i want some architectually different stuff. i dont want everything to be cube'ish. and some animating options like make objects move. or go garrys mod and put a piece called "seat" and it makes whatever its attatched to drivable and whether its an ir craft or land vehicle and maybe even sea! so some one could make a huge retarted spaceship or tank thing. also odst drop pods because they are a pain to make. also a more dramatic color change more than just lights on a wall. another thing ive noticed, for some reason lights dont work on split screen that should be fixed. more lights should be enabled also. and for fx there should be a night time one. i like forge world but there should be multiple forge world for different climates, tundra, jungle, desert and urban! armor customizations i think that if its possible go further into it, like for helmets make it so someone can pick the visor type and color the shape of the helmet and put details on it and shoulders and body you just pick pieces and slap em on. and back to forge, placable water! or you can change the water level so you could make a flooded map! and put weather effects, snow rain sandstorm ect.and more on nature. i want to spawn trees! and im sure its obvious to everyone MACHINIMAS! make it so you can go hand to hand. maybe you hold "Y" and you go hand to hand.(punching people would also just be plain fun) and make it so you can sit. and make things do the opposite of late spawn, make them disapear after a while! one final suggestion, bots! i have heard so many people say they want bots. it would definately make split screen play a whole lot better! and would eliminate stacking. bots could fill in for players who leave or arent there.
