They really shouldn't make a movie out of halo.

Why? I think it would be a really cool thing to watch.

Really, I would love to see what they have in mind/in store for a Halo movie.

Sweet...more news about it without saying a god damn thing. These writers that make a story out of nothing are genius.

Also, I would hope that it isn't just the lawyers holding the project from moving forward. I really do hope that our entertainment value and possibly one of the best movies from a video game, are taken heavily into consideration.

Though granted, they haven't even started filming yet...still...

I wouldn't say they made a story out of nothing. The article is about Frank still having the idea for a Halo movie and hopes to eventually make it.

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

When was the last time that someone took a popular, ground-breaking FPS and turned it into a movie? And how well did that work out.

Oh yeah, Doom. I remember not seeing that and then reading the terrible reviews of it. Can't wait until that's Halo.

What? Just because Doom and Halo are both FPS games doesn't mean they're that similar. I think Halo could do really well as a movie because it will be supported and helped by people who really love Halo's culture (e.g, Frank O'Connor).

They could do a good job with it. Halo has a really deep story line.

As long as it is CGI (like RE:Degeneration and the Halo Wars cutscenes) then it will be awesome. If it's live action, it would be very tough to make a good movie with all of those special effects

Even if some failed writer were to pick up a paper thin story and make it into a comprehendable script, no studio or director would touch that script even if they were paid personally. Frank O' Connor's optimism in the Halo franchise being turned into a suitable motion picture is born merely out of his inability to understand how Hollywood works.

Microsoft's Frank O'Connor hasn't exactly been quiet about his desire to expand the Halo franchise into television and film. Echoing several previous statements, O'Connor has once again promised that "there will be a Halo movie."

If nothing else this might rekindle some Halo movie discussion, "who should play Master Chief?", "What Halo story arc would you like the movie to follow?" which is always interesting/fun.

I've gone ahead and moved this to the Universe forum which is where the Halo movie has historically been discussed, although seeing as Bungie are no longer at the helm it is arguably better suited for The Flood. Story related discussion is best here, discussion of the movie characters may be better placed elsewhere, though for now I think we can have some flexibility.

"There will Be a Halo Movie"

Somehow, I don't think that quite outlines the possibility of a film coming within the next five years. This idea has been tossed around too many times. I don't think Frankie was smart to promise us this just yet.

It would work, though, so long as they followed the storyline of the games and don't go and try to do their own thing. Sure, a little more background for motion-picture's sake is fine, but if they go and try to make a spin off of the series, it will fail.

Two things:

1. Should be rated PG-13 (yes, including the Flood--there's no need to toss away any portion of the fanbase, and, let's face it, most Halo players are younger than 17.)

2. Steve Downes as Master Chief

Meh, I think Mass Effect is better suited for a movie, but Halo could be cool as well, if done right. Let's just hope it comes before this generation dies out -_-

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Dream big Frankie. Talk of this movie has been going on for so long now. I'm a bit skeptical towards all claims.

Laughing At Nothing

Back when HBN was still running, I had a whole "Halo Movie Guide and Watch" where I was constantly updating people on the movie. HBN is dead, and the thread was deleted years ago though, so I haven't been following it. Nice to hear (again) that there will be a movie.

I loled when I imagined Noble Six going on a rampage in the wraith across the burning surface of Reach.

"-blam!- DESTINY. I AINT DYING FOR NOBODY."

Its been said they will make a halo movie about 4 times and it has been dropped about 7 times

Signatures are for squares.

Steve downs needs to voice the chief, if he's in a Halo movie.

but any way if it was ALL cgi it would make it better due to how the hell could you make a Covie supercruiser?
It would just be CGI like halowars (maby better?) even if they could hire the guys who did halo-wars(cant remember who emsemble wasnt it?) and just have people doing voice-overs that get added flim and yeah
(i can imagine the flood and gravemind! dam)

1. Should be rated PG-13
NO. A PG-13 Halo Flood would never carry the same scary feeling that they're supposed too in Halo CE. If we want this movie to carry the same epic, tragic and somber feel that we've wanted since Halo 2 was announced, it must be rated R.

2. Steve Downes as Master ChiefYes. Get a really tall guy in a suit and have Steve Downes do the voice.
Oh, and

3. I nominate Peter Jackson (District 9) as director.

I know where you're coming from, and I can see why you think that, but the fact of the matter is that R rated movies always recieve less of an audience that PG-13 movies. For quality's sake, yes, it should be R. But in order to make it into theaters and stay for more than a week, PG-13 would be the better option.

Besides, as much as I am a fan of action movies, I've never been a fan of unnecessary mutilation and gross images that R movies generally provoke more than others. I don't want Halo to become Saw Games 2.0 just because the Flood is implemented.

This is good news for Halo fans...except the ones who don't want their moms to develop crushes on Master Chief.
Did he really need to say that part...

What they should do is make the movie and capture the feel of Halo they pick the rating that goes with it, not select the rating they want to follow, so it gets the rating
Hope that made sense...
