There has been lots of threads lately complaining about the state of bungie.net's public forums in the last few weeks. Many people have been stated how bad they think this place is, although this doesn't solve any problems. It doesn't help sort out these forums by constantly complaining and moaning.
Instead why don't we, the sensible and intelligent members of this community, try and come up with some ideas or suggestions about how tom improve the system. This is the only way we can actually make a difference, moaning or complaining will solve nothing. So lets get creative and try to help each other and make bungie.net a better place for everyone.
Please don't post if all you have to say is going to be you moaning, complaining or flaming me, all I am doing is trying to get everyone to be nice and helpful to each other rather than fighting and arguing. And please don't waste your time by saying that when Bungie announce their next project things will improve because that is not going to solve the problem now.

Before you read any of this- this is not moaning or complaining, it's just my opinion.

I don't like saying that we are the only sensible and intelligent members of the community, because we aren't. And not everyone in the Septagon is either of those. Also, we can't really do much. I mean, Bungie doesn't have a lot of free time, to my knowledge, to work on this site a lot. I think that the most any member can do is just be nice, helpful, and follow the rules.

*Senses another long and pointless argument brewing, which will no doubt involve people wanting to be Moderators*

Just my opinion.

I used to be a zanzibarian, but now I'm attracted to the smaller forums like septagon and underground. There way better because they have a lot less flamers plus your posts have a fighting chance of staying on the front page for at least five minutes. There's a lot less spam too. So seriously, the Septagon has it good.

By saying the intelligent ans sensible members of the forums I was reffering to anybody on these forums who is sensible, not just people from the Septagon, but this just seemed like the right place to make improvements.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Theres not even 2.5 million members of this site.

Alls we can o is try to set the example and be nice and follow the rules.

We cant force the bad members to be go0d members. Thats the mods job.

Alls we can do to help his Report the bad one and bee good.

I used to go to NM but once I stepped into The Septagon I never stepped out. There is nothing wrong with bungie.net, people who are jerks and who make this site a bad experience will always be around, you cant do anything about it, hell no one can do anything about it. The only thing we can do is enforce the rules set by Bungie and just try to have fun, even when it is almost impossible to sometimes.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

This issue is quite rightly raised. However, it all really, in my opinion, lays on the rules and enforcing them. The moderators and staff are doing a great job, but it seems this is not enough. Intelligent some of us maybe, but it's going to take a genious to think of a better way to make sure people stick to the rules.

IOt is really all down to people breaking thrules and doing what they like. I have nothing bad to say about the moderators they do their job great but maybe if there was a few more then the rules may be better enforced. The Karma Sytem may also improve things as mods could tell who good users and bad users are.
Maybe the best thing to do would be to:
* If you see a thread that breaks the rules don't post in it, as this just makes the rule breaker want to post more
* If you see a thread that breaks rules inform a moderator, at least 1 moderator is bound to be online, you can reach them in a variety of ways including, sending them a PM, Emailing them and INstant Messenger services

I see plenty of threads like this complaining about the problem and saying lets go solve it. So how do we make a difference? How can I as one user make a difference in the most busy forum on Bungie.net?

I really do want the answer to that question. If there is a solution to the problem I want to know. For right now I figure the best I can do for the situation is to try to stay out of flame wars. I even try not to start new threads about negative things. What I read here is just someone saying stop complaining, which is funny because that is a complaint about complaining. Half of the posts length is about telling people not to reply to it if (fill in the blank). Is that really constructive? I'm looking for ideas. When I clicked on this I really wanted specific ideas about changing bnet.

I don't think the forums have changed that much over the year I have been here. The people have changed. What I like most about the forums here is you can create your own group if you don't like what is going on. You can have complete control over it. I've even join some groups that claim to carry on the tradition of the "old" flood. To me they are no different than the new flood.
