I don't want to start an argument but personally, I find Eric Nylund's Halo books a bit... too much at once happening too quickly. I say that because, particularly with gunfights, while it describes things ok, the killing happens in what feels like 3 lines, it would usually involve a sidestep or punch in the gut, a gun barrel being shoved into someone's gut and a squeeze of the trigger, followed by the reloading. Now I know that it would generally happen like that, but it just happens a bit too fast for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love the books and the plot is amazing, it's just a bit fast for what happens.
