I'll say this now. About a year after Halo 2 came out, I stopped enjoying it. I found the campaign boring and monotonous, and had no access to multiplayer aside from split-screen. Yes, I know that was the "best part".
Even when I did finally play online, I didn't find it that fun. It seemed to be purely a numbers game; if you had more teammates, you won. That simple.
But aside from that, I find myself looking back on it a bit less harshly. Comparing it to the recent games, I find it much more fun. It just seems so much more consistent compared to Halo 3 and Reach. And really, consistency is one of the most important things when it comes to online play.
So there you have it. Someone who never liked Halo 2, looking back fondly because of these inconsistent new games and -blam!- plots.
