Subject: Does anyone actually LOVE odst's campaign

Use the Forge Luke

I thought the campaign was amazingly told. The script and delivery by the actors made the character conversations and cutscenes actually interesting to listen/watch. I felt like I was in a destroyed abandoned city against impossible odds. The audio diaries and bleakness of the environment in the hub world helped create a lonely and dark atmosphere. The daytime memory missions provided a nice contrast to this. The game made me feel more human compared to the rest of the games in the main series.

Halo 1 still had the best campaign for me personally. The mystery of the rings purpose and it's reveal over the game was an amazing experience. But I'd easily pick ODST over the rest of the series.

+1
Halo CE converted me to FPS.

ODST had the second best fleshed out story.

Reach leaves me with more questions then I had when I started!

"What do you mean I hurt your feelings?, I didn't know you had any feelings, what do you mean i ain't kind?, i'm just not you're kind, what do you mean i couldn't be the president, of the united states of america, let me tell you something, its still we, the people, right? if there's a new way, I'll be the first in line, but it better work this time!"

i can't really rank it amongst the halo games; i've enjoyed them all. most people hate on ODST, but i liked it. esp. the somber feeling you get walking around New Mombasa with the saxophone playing in the background. plus, the story was cool and different.

p.s. did you realize that the layout for the club ererra (SP?) in reach is almost the same layout for crater (i think that's the map. the area where you find dare's pod)?

I really enjoyed ODST, its campaign was pretty good. While some more stealthy gameplay could have helped some to differentiate a bit between an ODST and a SPARTAN, the game did feel like a different experience the way it was setup. It was different enough to make it stand out, but not too different that it alienated fans of the main series.

I'll admit that it took me a while to fully appreciate the other characters like Buck, and they initially seemed stereotypical and one-dimensional to me...but in later playthroughs and after becoming familiar with Firefly, I found that they were pretty decent after all.

One thing that bugged me a bit was that I expected the main character to be some important character and take off his helmet later. I don't know why, I guess on the whole I was happy with leaving the rookie's identity to the imagination, but I left the game with the feeling that the rookie and his adventure to rendezvous with his scattered teammates would have been largely unimportant if he hadn't found them first. I got the feeling that they would just leave him behind or something lol.

i STILL want recon for halo 3..

I thought it was one of the best because of the level of detail pertaining the characters. You saw how they reacted in situations. Spartans generally don't get that first person interaction like those ODST did.

Due to a human error on my part, this isn't the account I play on on xbox live. My gaming account is "Sir Ryan Mozal"
My forum account is this'n right here

Yes. The main characters had emotion and personalities, and weren't just some big lug with a monotone voice and a rocket launcher.

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

It was a good story, but they didn't really place the missions so they made sense. All the daytime memories were good placement, but all of Rookies investigation takes place on one giant mission (Mombasa Streets)vwhich is great for repeat playability

I Love Dutch Tulips

I loved the campaign. The only thing I had a problem with (which is in all the other games too) is that once you kill a guy, they will all know where you are straight away. They don't get confused or try to hide but instead they open up on me even though they shouldn't have seen me anyway.

I loved it.

It was a very good change of pace; still halo except a different style.

What I really enjoyed most was when I played on legendary it really felt like the difficulty matched the story of who you where and the odds of what you was doing. There where plenty of white knuckled moments.

What I mean is that in the other halos, I was bummed out when my 7 foot tall super soldier would get killed by a jackal with a over-changed plasma bolt and a few needles for a grunt or two. But on ODST it sorta made more sense when the same thing would happen cause I was just a puny human.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

It was good, but it was far too short of campaign. Legendary was a joke, hardly died during my play through on it on solo.

If death is what you want, then I'll gladly offer you a cup.

The campaing was great but too short, and the feeling of loniless in mombassa streets with the city superintendent guiding you to audiologs and that stuff was awesome!

odst feels more like a expancion to halo 3

Well that's because it is. It's Halo 3: ODST after all.

But yeah, I liked ODST's campaign a lot. Sure I thought it could've used some improvement in a few places, but it's an expansion and for only taking a year to work on it, Bungie did good.

I always wanted a few more New Mombasa levels in Halo 2, and a few years later Bungie comes out with a whole game dedicated to the city. I was amazed and I still play Mombasa Streets often.

l;abhrfiodj!!

the atmosphere was great the only thing I would have added would be civilian bodies and maybe interacting with some civilian survivors, mixed with some police and military people struggling to survive. Maybe you could have helped them escape in a mission.

Oh but the thing that destroyed the atmosphere is the silly stamina. They just called your shields stamina. They could have had an armor and health system where you could pick up and replace damaged armor and you could get health packs. Although the easiest thing would have been calling it armor heat.

Think about it if armor is hit by plasma it will heat up. If it gets too hot you will get hurt. The armor would have to cool down leading to a similar game-play mechanic as shields, you would just have to make all the weapons you face plasma based.

Guide to immortality : Sleep with Life

I had a pretty big time thread once.

Here's me bragging about it.

I loved it. Best Halo campaign.

Stupid ass washing machine...

I completely adore ODST's campaign.

For me, Halo's story is what makes it such a great franchise. Call of Duty might be better singularly for multiplayer, but the fact that it's stories are always terrible means I never go near anything with CoD branded on it.

ODST's plot was lovely. For starters, you're on Earth in the year 2552, so you get a sense of civilianism - you are outside of the military. Also, the fact that you were playing through it on the day after the Covenant arrived always make you think 'oh my goodness, if there's so much destruction, what in hell happened the day before?' and I really adore that.

ODST was a brilliant game, and for me, definitely worth the money. It wasn't an expansion pack, it was a glimpse into a whole new world of Halo.
