Halo: Heretic or Hero---An Elite's Story
Choose your own destiny

For me, it would have to be when the Arbiter and the rest of the Elites ally themselves with the humans. This was something that was completely unexpected in my mind, and, in truth, it's the reason why the rest of the series turned out as it did (humanity winning, Covenant wiped out).

Which do you think is the biggest twist?

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Hunters are actually just a bunch of worms.

What a twist!

Oh...yeah...and by the way...Johnson didn't actually die a horrible gruesome death at the hands of a flood swarm, even though we saw it on film.

I'm not saying that it was a bad decision to keep him alive, I just think it was done in a very sloppy way. They could have made a bigger deal out of Johnson's survival than a slight mention in a half serious conversation between old buddies.

Keep in mind that most people don't read the books, so going into Halo 2, the majority of the gaming population would have been like, "why is he not dead?"

The Halo is built to kill all life in the galaxy! What a twist!

  • 11.24.2010 6:23 PM PDT

I don't care. I really don't.

You know, the Flood and Halo's purpose. Halo started out as a cliche Humans vs. Aliens, then turned into an actual brained, unique sci-fi that didn't dissapoint old fans.
Yeah, that was good.

No matter the location, we will see victory. If we fail, no one will know. Like a ghost, our presence is a mystery. For the honor of the mirratord" join the Mirratord

Apparently he only survived because of the augmentations he went through to become a Spartan I

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Fate had us meet as foes, but this Ring will make us brothers!

Ah, foreshadowing... On that subject, Mendicant Bias inside the Dreadnaught in Contact Harvest and in the final Terminal.

I also loved the twish with Mack being taken over by Loki, that was very well done by Staten.

I didn't really understand the signifigance of that part. Aren't Loki and Mack just two products of the same intelligence, Loki being ONI and Mack being Harvest's agricultural AI? Doesn't that mean that both coudl do the others' job anyway?

To be fair there were very little twists that you didn't see coming from a mile away, the whole "You ARE reclaimer" was such a let down. However thinking about it the most surprising moments were (in no order) -

. Keyes being made into one of the flood and having to kill him in Halo
. Playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2

I think that was officially retconned by the Halo Graphic Novel. The story guys over at Bungie never did too much like the idea of Johnson being immune to the Flood infection.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Yeah, I found it quite surprising as well. The Covenant were not truly in control it seems, and it sounds like they could never actually walk away intact from the war in any outcome.

I prefer señor Legendary Member.

Roadhouse.
I have seen the powers at hand and I can honestly say I am not ready

Snake was Raiden all along. Nah, probably The Arbiter in Halo 2.
