Why are you wasting your time reading this you already know im AWSOME

the battle between brutes and elites are never ending. They fought for the highest class of the covanent and when the elites joined the humans. who is deadliest(lol). A elite general with a sword or a brute chieftain with hammer. which do you think.

Brute Chieftain with a hammer. In fact, at close quarters the Brutes dominate the Elites. At range, though, it is a whole different ball game.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Depends, gameplay wise the Elite pwns the Brute without mercy. Story wise, it depends if the Elite is skilled with the Sword, if not he dies a very painful death.

I put the laughter in manslaughter

elites really practiced with their swords, whereas brutes were just "hurr durr smash smash"

edit: I remember reading a book about Halo where some Elites were sparring, and one elite pinned the other one down and just as he was about to strike, the elite he pinned down said "you lose" and then went on about how he could have still got a strike in at the cost of his life.

all elites are trained to be good with energy swords(i think)but we are talking about a general someone with huge amounts of training and experience vs the biggest and strongest of a company of brutes(only deployed for special tasks)

It depends on what sword we're talking about here.

Halo 2 Sword gives the Elites extreme range for them to lunge at the Brute. A hammer may have the fancy, lethal splash damage, but 2's sword is a lunge to be reckoned with as constantly seen online.

  • 11.25.2010 10:05 PM PDT

I think that the Hammer would win in like a one vs one thing but if the Brute was taking on two or more the hammer just cant react fast enough. Like when the sword lunges BANG, one dead, then swipe the second gets him from behind. I myself am a Hammer Bro, but there pretty evenly matched, in most cases.

  • 11.25.2010 10:13 PM PDT

Sword. The hammer, unlike the sword, requires a large amount of force for it to be lethal. The sword on the other hand, just needs to touch its victim. Also it might be able to slash the hammer in half.

I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

Wrong, just plain wrong. The hammer just needs to discharge the gravity field to be lethal and it doesn't even have to hit the person. Also the sword has to enter the body to be lethal or else you just pissed off a Brute by giving him a big flesh wound.
But I still support the energy sword because it is not as obvious a weapon as the hammer, it is harder to see when holstered.

Everybody loves Grunts!

I think it is very evenly matched. The chieftan is very skilled with his hammer, and swings it wildly in circles. If an elite tries to hit him while he's doing this, he'll get smashed by the hammer. The sword however, is very lethal. One lunge and the chieftan is caught offguard. he'll get killed. The hammer actually has a very fast reaction time and could take out more than one Elite at a time if two lunged at the weilder. Also, if Halo Wars is cannonical, the Brute Chieftan can use the vortex ability and suck the elites into the vortex.

I think the hammer would win because of the splash damage factor and the fact that it could be used from a range with vortex too.

funny thing is, Elites hate Brutes, yet the elite in your avatar is swinging a Gravity Hammer at the SPARTAN

Hmmmm... I vote elites. They're quicker, better trained, and smarter. But a spartan with a shotgun and a knife beats them both. At once.

That's a Brute. Why would you even point that out if you aren't sure?

  • 12.02.2010 8:24 PM PDT

I don't care. I really don't.

This is hard, becuase the attacks of neither areconsistent. For example, the sword in Halo 2 has crazy range and unstopable damage, however in Reach it has barely any and is stopable with someones forearm yet can destroy a tank in a few swings, and Halo 3 is somewhere in between.
The Gravity Hammer in Halo 2 is crazy and has magnificent splash damage, Halo Wars is like the uultimate weapon, and Halo 3/Reach is very weakened compared to the former. The books are also as inconsistent as the games.
So it's hard to say which would actually, you'd have to look at their respective games, plus who is wielding the weapon.

He's sure, and so am I. It's an Elite, from Forge World's concept art, holding a GravHam.

Elites have speed and technique on brutes. Technique will almost always beat brute force.

  • 12.02.2010 9:47 PM PDT

I say the Elite with the sword. Brutes have incredible strength but Elites are more efficient with their strategy. For example, if a Elite general went up against a Brute Chieften, he would easily evade his gravity hammer until it found the perfect opportunity to onto the offensive. Then, he would kill the beast in a single blow.

Brutes may be stronger but Elites are by far the superior species.

KOTOR

I say it depends on the skill of the wielders.

In a Spec Ops Commander vs. Tartarus fight, I'd say Tartarus

I think the elite because it could evade the hammer of the brute chieftain an lung at him with his sword and kill him in a flash.Elites are quicker than brutes and better lung. When you fight a chietain you can move around without getting hit but a general with a sword you might die 1 or more times.Generals can evade a shotgun and brutes are not even thinking about it and just run at you.

Elites are way more superior than the brutes.Brutes don't think much till they fall. When a brute comes at you he just runs at you and not wan't to do anything else, that is why brutes are easily beaten so much.

Brute chiefys have HUGE shields and an ENOURMOUS health bar. and with thier stupidity they might keep charging after losing a limb. They don't do what elites do. the fatal mistake of the shield-absence roar

wowm always thought it was a brute but, look at the mandibals! The fact he has a grav hammer is to show community. It's a PLAYER with the hammer, not just an elite

elite would win a elite would just sidestep the hammer with a roll and return the favor while the brute is readying his weapon.
Not to mention brutes are horrible strategists unlike the elites who would be able to out think there opposition.
