I think it would be awesome if Elites spoke English, or rather the Chief gets an Elite translator in Halo 2. I know it might sound stupid to some of the vets around here, but I heard an Elite say "DIE." in the old pre-release commercial and it sounded awesome.

In the Cheifs armour there is translation software, but the Elites are really just speaking English backwards. But just to add more depth to the gameplay, the Elites speak English so you can understand what they are saying. Just imagine not being able to here what the Grunts were saying...no more funny comments.

Elites can speak English. In Halo:The Flood, an Elite speaks to Keyes.

Errr?!? Ok, if the Elites speak backwards what does “Wort, Wort” mean?

“Trow, Trow”???

Besides that, what are some of the other sayings that Elites use?

Actually, they do speak backwards, Looters. Since the letters aren't just spelled backwards, they're pronounced backwards, "Go, go, go!" becomes "Wort, wort, wort!"

Are you guys sure he's going to be able to understand the Elites in Halo 2? In the old demo they used sounds from Halo 1...

"Wort, wort, wort" is the Elite saying GO, go, go. It you record it and play it backwards, it should sound like a distorted Sgt. Johnson voice. I think.

Its actually "wort wort wort" which could actually mean "Throw" or something for a Grunt to throw a grenade or something.
