Subject: What if The Halo Games were violent and bloody as The Books?

Home again swiftly i glide, back to my beautiful wife, she'll not feel so rotten, as soon as shes gotten cider insider her inside

I have Read Just about all the Halo books and i have notice a trend...The Books are Very Violent and filled with blood and gore, a few Examples:
being burned
Bone Breaking
Spine snapping
Vaporizing
being crushed out of existence
Being torn apart
Being gutted
being decapitated
And Ect....

But what if the games were this bloody??
Wouldn't that be epic??

But what if the games were this bloody??

1-Halo CE gameplay involves the walls being painted with blood.
2-Doom.

What if things died when you shot them? What if plasma could melt through walls? What if guns were realisticly accurate? What if reach hadn't destroyed cannon?

Halo would be awesome.

That would be disturbing in a way. I love to play gory games like Doom 3 or Gears of War, but the gore thing don't fit with Halo in my opinion. The Flood is enough. I even find it slightly disturbing that the Drones are gibbed when you headshot them in Reach, lol.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It would be like this.

I'd love to see a Halo spinoff game that focused solely on single-player and incorporated all the violence, physics, and story-telling of the books. Essentially, going by the book's "rules" in relation to plasma, shields, ect.

I wouldn't want the main series tarnished like that, though. I love the Halo gameplay formula to this day.

I love that episode.

Hey that would be epic....but here's a million bucks from one bungie fan to another...imagine this... Halo 4 for kinnect! just see this in your head... a lazer tag type vest that vibrates when u get shot...a helmet with visor h.u.d... a prop weapon that you push-button reload...and the motion problem solved because in kinnect adventures your head tilts left or right for avatar movement, so it should work...and just jump to jump ;] what if huh? wow /// maybe you know a guy that knows a guy that might be able to make this dream a reality...hopefully some day...in this strange HALO u-n-i-verse.
If you are reading this ..and you love this game of ours as much as i do harass bungie or those 343 guys with this great idea... I mean they changed the gaming industry as we know it with HALO alone(not to mension saving xbox's tail) lets see if they truly love us ...listen to the fans....bring back the MASTER CHIEF.... bring back John 117.

On hiding dead bodies:

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

What would happen is that every time you got hit by a plasma pistol in a warthog, it would melt/boil and you'd have to get out again.

Plus a Wraith's mortar would boil everything within 20m of impact, not 2 and no AOE effects beyond that.

  • 11.28.2010 1:30 AM PDT

I'd like to see it with certain weapons (energy sword or shotgun at extreme close range). On a separate note, If there ever was to be a movie, gore would probably add to the brutal atmosphere quite well.

  • 11.28.2010 1:38 AM PDT

if some one did that then when you t-8ag some one it would be kinda funny to see some one to start doing it in the middle of the living room

  • 11.28.2010 2:10 AM PDT

how is hamd?

i wish the games and books coincided better, especially with the gore. i would have enjoyed the games much more.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

It'd be Halo: World at War.

a few discrepancies/liberties/and retcons (most of which that has been explained btw) does not destroy the canon.

Seriously, it was a few minor details that have been retconned to fit the game, in the grand story (with the Forerunners and such) the only point of the battle for reach was the Covenant destroyed it and found the Reach crystal. That never changed, so I don't see the problem.

We'd have to play as a Marine, because Spartans would be overpowered.

  • 11.28.2010 9:37 AM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

That would be awesome. Halo is a family game though, not going to happen.

  • 11.28.2010 9:39 AM PDT

I imagine not much would change save for a few sounds and weird angles. I suppose I would be ok with it, but that would make it an 18 for sure.

  • 11.28.2010 9:43 AM PDT

I don't care. I really don't.

WFT?! Halo is rater M for Mature, and is not meant for family at all. Where'd you get that idea? From the slightly cartoony graphics? It is not for family; try playing it around your family, because it's both awkward and they get disturbed easily.

OT: If it had as much gore in the books, it would be like the video above meets Gears, and everybody would be dying, having their vehicles break down and explode from grenades twenty feet away. Which would be awesome.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

The graphics aren't "Cartoony". Having more than brown and grey in the color palette does not constitute a game being cartoony =/

On topic: The books portray Halo with the realism they couldn't establish in the game with game mechanics. Personally, I think it would be awesome if a game with mechanics more akin to the books and universe came out.

Instead of the 8v8 arena style it's 64v64 or 128v182 with multiple objectives like torch n burn ops, cole protocol initiations, civilian evacs. It would be more team based, damage would be threatening, shields wouldn't be as powerful as they are now.

And if the revolutionary tech that died with battlefront 3 ever surfaces, imagine having space to surface combat with frigates, cruisers, and fighters.

TheNova129 says hi.

It would be awesome, but do you know how much extra programming would have to go into the game to even run one person? Let alone billions of players and AI's. If Bungie had tried to add gore to the game, it probably would have been released 6-7 months later than it did. A few things would have to be left out though, such as the damage radius of the wraith, the effects plasma has on vehicles, and the epicness of the needler. If the needler would be like it is in the books, you would die from one needle without shields. The needle rifle probably wouldn't exist either. Now then, that said, not necessarily every weapon needs gore. Like the assault rifle, pistol, plasma rifle/repeater, and the focus rifle. Explosives, sniper rifles, shotguns, and the swords though should have it.

What? In campaign you're fighting colourful aliens who grunt, and make silly noises. There is no swearing. There is no real gore, The Flood is not gory enough to be considered disturbing at all.

The multiplayer is straight-forward and simple to play, so anyone can just hop on and play it. It features two brightly coloured teams cartoonishly battling across scenic landscapes. And of course, it's got four player splitscreen.

It's not as much of a family game as a Wii game, but compared to basically every shooter out there, it definitely is.
