Halo IP isn't so AAA as people think, if it were then explain why
Halo 1 PC + Custom Edition, Halo 2 Xbox, Halo 2 Vista, Halo 3, ODST and soon Halo Reach will all have their support dropped in some way.
Halo 1 PC and Custom Edition
This game, although 7 years, the development support for the game was dropped well before 2009, but luckily sawnose on his own, made 2 last patches, after [I don't know how long] since Gearbox or Bungie dropped support.
Normally PC games have their source codes released for community development, however a company like Microsoft does not have the brains like Valve does.
Halo 2
There really was no reason to take Xbox v1 down, other than business gain, people who were on v1 were really not getting Microsoft enough money keeping this old version on, and taking these offline would've forced people to buy Xbox 360, and other Halo games, increasing their revenue.
Blastacular map pack from certain affinity was the last new thing to ever happen to this game.
The voice codec? was built into the game, so the dashboard update wouldn't have affected it.
Halo 2 Vista
This game was promised to be better than Halo 1 PC, and Halo 2 itself.
The version of this game never arrived, it was non-existant, this thing with the name Halo 2 Vista or Halo 2 PC whatever you call it, was absolute garbage, the Halo 2 Editing Kit was strictly for MP map creation, the most a user could get out of it was BSP creation.
Microsoft hired a bunch of monkeys to port this Xbox 1 game to PC, and only on Windows Vista OS, there was no reason to make it OS exclusive other than to guinea pig users into buying crap software, which didn't even run well at all.
Bungie helped HiredGun by providing them the good bananas, or should I say Bungie doesn't even know what to do Quality Assurance and Design Decisions, thx for a crappy game, when Halo 3 was on the horizon, who cared.
This game was dropped in 8 months (I think), and no one has given a damn ever since.
Halo 3
Halo 3 was a great game, the true milestone for community content.
After 3 map packs, this game was done for.
As it was coming close to 3 years or before Halo Reach, this game was downsized, and it seems they put the matchmaking servers on low priority for this game.
ODST
Microsoft conned people by charging a full price, giving us Campaign, Firefight and all of Halo 3 MP.
Bungie knew there wouldn't be high demand for DLC content for this game, no one really cared for this game.
Reach
After a few map packs, this game will be dead too.
A, AAA IP should be given AAA support, is this really the respect this IP deserves?
Look at Valve, and Half Life and Source engine, all them are supported for ever, if anything Valve deserves Halo. xD
