In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

What book or event would you base it on?

Personally, if i was a director of a halo movie (As it looks like there is going to be one according to Microsoft, can't find link sorry, but there have been reports of what looks like another Halo trilogy and a Halo movie in between), i would base it around the book of 'First Strike'.

There is an amazing story in that book, sure you would have to cut out, or put in some quick fill ins for the audience. Like for example, when the Chief goes off to Halo, easily solved by not introducing him until later. When he comes back to save them.

From reading over the book for the fourth time, i still get attached to many of the characters in the book. And even though i know they are about to die, still hope in someway that they don't if you get what i mean. I think this would go perfectly into creating an action packed and emotionally attached Halo movie. (Which the book has many of these qualities). An emotional bond could be created from the Spartans, or other UNSC members (Like Admiral Whitcomb, and Harverson) so their deaths have more impact on the audience. Creating a more dramatic experience for them and have them walking away thinking about the movie and wanting more.

The movie could be a lot like avatar in a way. There would be tons of CGI, to create the masses or alien warships and creatures. And from what i saw as i watched avatar, the movie would look amazing. It would be like Halo was born all over again.

My version of the story would begin like the typical Star Wars movie. You are thrust, right into the midst of the action on Reach, in the heat of the covenant assault on Reach. Creating a strong outline of the movie from there on in. I would perhaps start off in the Pillar of Autumn, it firing off MAC round etc, and covenant and Human ships being blasted to pieces by the super MAC stations and plasma projectiles. From this I would introduce the Spartans and maybe leave out Blue team (Being Chief, Linda and James), and just introduced Red team as they are being chased down by Banshees and Seraphs. I would focus much of the movie on the ground-side assault of Reach and unfortunate leave out the Halo rings. (Of course, wouldn't be able to fill that in, but could also produce money for Halo by having the audience want to find out more about what happened to the Chief).

There is a problem with this story though, after Reach, there isn't much, if any ground fighting until they reach Unyielding Hierophant. Most of it takes place in space combat which would pose a problem and might not work for creating a good movie. Other than that, the story line and detail poses a lot of potential for a good Halo movie. It may also give fans something to silence themselves over the massive cannon breach from the game of Halo Reach.

So, what do you think. What book? Story? Or event would you go for and why? Or would you do something completely different and add a new chapter to the Halo universe by making your own story?

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Contact Harvest.

It would be the most viable for adaptation and still has an interesting enough story.

That would be a good one to do a movie on. Unfortunate i haven't been able to read the whole thing. I can't order it in my county.

But that would be a good book to do it on.

This, followed by TFoR, then The Flood, then FS, then Halo 2 and ODST (combined into one), then Halo 3, Then GoO2.

Though, it wouldn't really be practical to make a movie on a game. People that have played it already know what is going to happen with minimal surprises. Kind of like the books, people who have read it, know what is going to happen, but it doesn't beat actually being able to visual see the thing and action in the book (Along with a bit of background music). Books make for a better experience, because unlike a game, you can't actually visually see the thing you are reading. You have to imagine it in your own way and it depends on what you think like and how you translate images in your head from the book.

A movie could give you a way better representation.

And there is usually more detail and potential in a book rather a game.

from a movie's perspective, however, it'd be kinda odd to leave the story on a cliffhanger at the end of the Halo: Flood movie and not have the war ended.

Apparently they are making another trilogy on that, so a movie would be unnecessary.

Thought it took place after Halo 3? Eh, either way, can't wait for the trilogy.
