Ok, I', working on this Halo CE map called 'trepidation' where you have the ability to fly the halcyon (pillar of autumn type ship) and covenant battle cruiser, along with the Marathon, Frigate, and Seraph Fighter. The map takes place in the orbit of earth and contains 2 space stations: 1 human, 1 covenant.
Im just looking for your opinion on the map and what you think it needs.
The following is a list of expected stuff:
AI Marines
" Grunts
" Elites
F90 Submachine gun
Anti Air guns (carriable, not turrets)
Plenty of useless rooms such as engineering and crap on the stations.
Armory for weapons (both stations)
Weapons on ships include:
Halycon / Marathon:
Shiva missiles, MAC guns.
Frigate:
Shiva missiles, archer missiles
Coveant battle cruiser:
Plasma Cannons (torpedoes), phase beams.
Seraphs:
Plasma cannons, fuel rod cannons.

Uh...hate to put a damper on all of this, but this is a very VERY complex map you're talking about here. It's possible if you have an extremely skilled team of modders working on this for quite a while, but...yeah. A tad difficult. Especially if you're doing tracking missles, AI, huge flying ships and whatnot.

Have you done any othe CE maps before? If not, start small, this is WAY beyond the new mapper. There haven't been any maps before like this for a reason.

This is just like saying driving around a huge spaceship like enterprise and and killing things with it :D. But...the map would be f***ing huge, and I'd probably only get maybe .5 fps on my -blam!- lapotp.

ya but hugeass doesnt have AI and all these new vehicles and stuff, yes hugeass has new vechicles but this is just different the AI will take up so much and its just going to be hard.

Actually, the current build is only 44 Mb and contains both the halycon and the battle cruiser. the other vehicles are expected and yes, i have made a few maps. (ei: Regret, Innerpoa (which was recently leaked onto halomaps.org), poahanger (not yet released, just the same general idea as any other hanger map), poaengine (not yet released).
You people are having the same responses as the people at Gearbox Forums. And they were waaaaay wrong. The Halycon and Battle Cruiser are both in beautiful working order (though the controls could use some work)

Nope. Currently runs on my crappy pc at 15 Fps, and thats when im looking down a set of 100 hallway blocks (each being the distance between 2 blast door things) while firing a giant plasma rifle beam (dont ask...)

The AI may not be included, it was only a suggestion from one of my beta testers.

Good News! As of now I have my Covenant Carrier model! Now i just need the marathon and frigate...

I love rubbing stuff in peoples faces, so we better hurry and finish the inside of the human station. The Coveant Carrier is on its way! Just need to scale it and the beta version will be ready.

Good luck, but I agree with the members who posted here before.
1.Hugeass may have been big, but there's too bases, a bunch of vehicles, effects, and tag. The rest is just one or two texures over and over again.
2.It's not going to be a perfect map dude. All maps have it's flaws-I don't want to play as an elite in h2snowing and h2innerpoa maps...whatever..I doubt it's going to have everything you said it would, not inculding AI.
3.It seems like an awesome idea/map, so keep it up!

Guess what: I was the original creator of innerpoa. I thank ultimate_dragon for multiplayer-izing it. And i hate a one 'supersonic' for 'leaking' the original. which isnt the newest version..

also: what are you saying you think wont end up in it? cause all of the vehicles have been confirmed, as soon as my models get to my computer.

Look at every one of your details, do you think you can do ALL of that perfectly? If you can, you should the get the first Overall Map Award in your "Golden Grunt" award thread. And ok, I understand. Did you do Snowing? You shouldn't play as an elite, you should've have used Jahrians H2 Armor, not just his FP arms..

awsome job though...but like people said, this will be hard as hell. however, given some of the other mods out there, this idea is not that far out of reach...

Hm...I would be impressed, except that I can't see the links. They don't work for me.

Speaking as a moderator of both versions of halomaps.co.uk, and as a user of halomaps.org, gearboxsoftware.com and bungie.net, Supersonic124 is a known leaker that has been banned from several forums including both our versions of halomaps.co.uk and from this forum.

And if you're still making the map, I suggest not putting in the AI. That rarely turns out nice, unless you really work on it, and unless your computer can handle all of it. The CE community would be happy with just another hugeass. We don't need the AI.

As for leaking, here are a few tips: share the map only with the modders working on the project themselves. Basically, it's a trust thing. So choose your fellow modders carefully. And as for beta testers, again, choose selectively. Make sure you can trust the people you give the map to.

Funny thing though, Innerpoa was open source, which i have found to be the only way to keep a map from being leaked, other than not giving it to anyone.

as ive probably said before, the problem with links happens when you edit a post... and maybe preview, i forgot. just check your links when you post them.

what happens is in the post editor it sticks a space in line breaks when you edit a post, and then your links dont work cause theres a space in the url

As i have said before, all vehicles are scaled. but it is still 3X the size of the Longsword.
All other vehicles are scaled to suit using a scale chart. I have yet to scale the carrier, and the marathon has a controversial size, but I still dont have a model for it anyway.

Did I mention that the whole flying-the-big-ones thing was THE idea behind trepidation?
Cause it was. Thats the point of the map. They may be scaled down, but its because the BSP cant get bigger, the vehicles CAN be their real sizes, but they wouldnt move anywhere.

Ok, stuff that needs fixin' and how it will work:
So far, the controls are glitchy because I havent modified the tags much, the physics file is pretty much the same with velocity measurements, tweaking those will give the user more control without sacraficing the accurate sub-light spped of the ship's engines (this concerns both ships currently in the map)

Second is how it looks. I am working on this, which is why there are 2 completed hallways in the human station, but 4 arms. The two remaining hallways are being worked on. And the central intersection of the hallways hasnt been planned yet. Other than that, the hallways are all scenery files (cause tool wouldnt export them as part of the map, so i got pissed and spent an hour making them scenery and putting them into 1 arm). I need to make a turn, 3 way, and 4 way allong with a straight piece with a door spot and a dead end piece.

Third is how it plays strategically. Unlike hugeass, which everyone should know sucked strategically cause it was slow as hell (no, trepidationw ill not be. It takes place in pretty much open space which means nothing to render but the vehicles, and the bases will only have enemy players in them when the flag is being taken in CTF) trepidation will be very strategic. Even though each team has completely different vehicles, they will be evenly matched, regardless of book accuracy (i have the entire trilogy for reference on matters that need to be accurate). I may not use the frigate, but instead use a longsword to match the seraph fighter. This will be the standard vehicle, you can expect 4 on each side (4 ls's, 4 seraphs). There will be 3 halycon's and 3 battle cruisers, and 1 marathon and 1 carrier. I still need the Marathon model, so we'll wait on that.
