that way connection is not associated
like h2 c20.
btw nice work on your beta.
the covie cruiser needs a little tweaking.
try bump mapping everything too while you're at it.

If you make it a sp map, you wont be able to access it from the maps menu will you? Bump mapping is fine, just need to smooth everything better.

Man i think this is a very daring project dude and i think it will require a lot of attention to detail if you want it to have good strategy and gameplay, etc. But what u have so far looks -blam!- sweeet. I think this project is great and wish u the best of luck.

Btw, is it going to be like you can walk around in these ships while there flying? If so that seems pretty difficult to do. Or are there just going to be seats or whatever that u press button to enter and u have to be in a seat while ship is flying?

Also, with this idea of anti air and ship to ship combat, wouldnt that mean the ships would have to be destructible??


with your last point: if I want it to look good, yes. I can look at some of the tags for destroying the longsword, that would help.
No, you can walk around in the ships while they are flying, the ships would move too fast.
You just seat in them and do nothing, but there are fake interioirs (well, will be) that you walk around in when first boarding, each labeled for parts of the ship (cause the ships are about 3 lengths of hallway [between each blast door slot] and there fore, i cant have a full scale bridge, armory, etc. So i just have labels on the floor, you stand on the label and it acts as a seat. I will also have a shaft containing a staircase to the bottom of the ship, so you can get in and out when they arent attached to the station.
And someone was talking about the ctf would be like blood gulch, but this isnt true. With a highly complex interior, the insides of each station must be navigated, on foot, and without a gun (when you have the flag) plus, the only way into the station will lead you into a maintnance shaft that runs down from the top to the middle, right above the flag, but with no access to it directly. So you would need to work your way around the interior to get to the flag.
And that wouldnt be easy, seeing as most people will want to fly the ships, half the team may be at their own station (4 ships, 4 drivers) but they may act as passengers too. The ships will carry:
2 passengers
1 driver
1 gunner.
I dont want to have ships carrying an entire force of 8 people.
The umbilicals have roughly been made, and i am currently working on perfection. The interiors of the ships has been planned and layed out, seeing as i now have a textured 3 way intersection and 90* turn piece (from the pillar of autumn, larger hallways)
It turns out that the longsword doesnt fit in the station (?) so it will not be included, however, pelicans do and will be included. Pelicans vs Seraphs. sounds ok to me, seeing as the pelicans have homing missiles (they are from hugeass, so..) and a chain guns.
I still dont have a marathon model, because the person who was supposedly getting it for me is leaving halo ce due to a dispute with other forums. (not a good idea, i tried it once..)

It will not be made a single player map, not yet at least, i am planning on making a single player version when i finish the multiplayer version.
And yes, i know the covi cruisers need, er, tweaking. They are actually facing the wrong direction (thats why the guns shoot backwords)
Other than that, nothing in the map is supposed to be smoothed, except for the covi stuff, which im not even working with yet.

I was wondering why there wherent any projectiles coming out of the cruiser. The bottom of one end of the cruiser needs to be smoothed, other than that, I think its fine smoothing wise.

yeah, there's a few problems with the covie ship... im sure most of them are already or soon-to-be fixed though...
also, have you considered putting like a warthog or some other sort of car in the stations? thoes corodors are realy fricking long when your on foot.

hey have you thought of putting in stationary MAC turrets on the station? also you need some faster ships than the cruizers, i would say a couple longswords or something like that would do the job

Longswords were planed, but have been canceled because they are longer than a station arm is wide.
Yes, we have considered stationary mac turrets, and may indeed add them.
The crusers are faster than the longswords, by far.

well, if you make a turretless hog (which is a good way to prevent people from hog-camping the flag) you won't have to worry about something like that.

Here's an idea. Not sure how well it would work (mainly because I don't mod CE, but I have played with HMT for PC before) but it's worth a shot.

Reduce the size of the chief.

Set him to be small and reduce the size of the biped. That way you can work with a bit more space inside each ship and whatnot. Worst part is because of the scale of the ships you'd end up taking ten minutes just finding the drivers seat, only to get blown away by someone else.

So bad idea, forgive me. Still there's a slight chance it could work... mabye.

ACtually, no. in order to make him scale to the ships, ide have to reduce by massive ammounts, and collision-geometry doesnt allow for veritices to be within .1 3ds max units (.001 world units ? or mb its .01...) and most things i have are within 1, so 1/30 is, yeah.. not gonna work.
*30 comes from the approximate scale of the ships.

Collision doesn't have to be detailed, unless a box would still be too small.

Ok guys its time for the master to step in, The reason why ive been away for a whie is because my map team, Forerunner Mapping Team (FMT) has been creating maps, Trepidation is one of ours. The map was a bit difficult but we got a fully operational beta up and it works smoothly. Before you guys make accusations you should try to make maps first, me and bacon have experiance and personally it isnt that hard. The map is going great and the final will be out sooner than you think, with Marathons, Frigates, Assault Carriers and Seraph fighters alike.

FMT is one of the best, and we intend to show it.

[GM] Holds full responsibility for Trepidation, not FMT. GM and FMT are working in cooperation, but it is a GM map. The idea is from GM and all current content is by GM. the Carrier, Marathon, etc are not included in the current build
Frigates will no longer be included, as they dont match the statistics of the seraph.

The chiefs collision doesn't have to be detailed, you wont notice a differenct if it has a little hole like the armour does or not. Simplify it, no one sees it. Nothing matters as long as no one can notice any difference.

I tried out the map like a week ago and i think (no offense) the human base is crap as it is. The map needs to have a real interior and i think that the covenant base should be connected and maybe have a midship/concat style interior. The space part is cool, but if there was a decent interior section the map would pwn.

I don't doubt your ability to do this. I have made some games though small In only afew hours. If you think you are skilled enough to take this goal on I say go ahead. Challenges are what life Is for.

Now If you want to know what you may include Is some form of carrier ability similar to the warthogs side seat. This could be a great addition and those inside the "Side Seat" shall we call It for now could fire the ships turetts.

None of the bases are even close to done. Heck, they arent even close to half done.
The human station will have an interior, thats what im working on now. The covi base is just there so that i have a aplace to put the covi ships, none of it will actually be used. i may even use a completely different design.

I finally figured it out (thanks to crappy display settings on my psps, which hid the images on this site, well, actually, that was teh site doing it) The flaming bungie dude means the topic is Active. Thats a good thing : )
