I tried out the map and I really liked it! I can certainly tell it's not finished though. The human ships display and huge annoying green picture of them when you fly them. The covie ships are too agile for their own good (I fliped one upside down and fell out). The covie base has no interior. The Human base's interior is a huge jumbly mess. But like I said these are signs that you're definitly not done. Not that the map is bad. Like I said I loved the map.
P.S. I used the all_vehicles cheat and all these huge vehicles fell on me and most of them were unboardable of did nothing when i did board them. It was almost comical though. :)
I also need to find that HET thing so make my own maps.

To board the vehicles:
Halcyon: Walk between the sensor arrays
Battle Cruiser: Left docking bay
I believe I also had a cahir in the globals when I exported it, so there may be a chair from the POA when you do that.

Yeah there's a chair. I saw it, I got in it, and was like "wtf?". Yeah the vehicles I was talking about not being able to board were the longsword, the pelican (i mean the cockpit), and the others just because they were so huge they were on top of each other and I couldn't board them. :)

? The longsword and Pelican should work fine, considering they use the warthog seat animations and ive used them many times. They are tiamats (maker of hugeass), but most of the seats dont work on them

IM working hard on Beta 9, but I wont be releasing it to halomaps.org. they'd get pissed.
Heres a list of what will be fixed (or already has been) in Beta 9:
map name (now trepidation.map)
added hallways in halcyon (to give the illusion that the ships are their correct size and to add a more conventional access router)
added umbilicals (so that you can get to the halcyons from the inside of the arms, these will be towards the end of them, allong with access to the hangars)
hangers NOTE: FOR PELICANS ONLY. Longswords do NOT fit in the station, and they wil cause major screwups with the illusion im trying to create.
COVI CARRIER!!
It IS ripped. I give bungie FULL CREDIT for it. Nice ship, by the way : )
There will be 1 at the covi station, replacing one of the cruisers. I am currently fixing up the textures now that i have a correctly uv-ed version (thanks again to bungie and the people who ripped the scenery file for me)
Warthogs may be added.

What I am working on now:
Adding hallways to Halcyons
Making a new Hud.

Hey Bacon, why are you making a new HUD? Just so it'll look cool, or is it necessary in making a map (I don't have CE yet so I don't know how it works.)? If it's the former I'd say that's a sweet idea!

No, it is not required, but i dont like the style of the halo hud. And ive always wanted to try a round health meter..
The hud meters are made using gradients, if I use the same colors, i can make round blocks, not to mention, itll look cool when your shield recharges and it goes around the corner. lol

Thats your fault. What are the specs on your computer? It may not support all the great things in trepidation.

If its an ecception error before you get into halo, its a maps fault. Not yours cause I know its fine. Take the bad one out of the maps folder and it will be fine.

Good point. It souldnt be trepidation, though. were there any other maps you had just added before running halo? This has happened to me when it has worked fine for others (when i was a trying a custom unicode_string_list which holds vehicle names :) )

alright, this is going to be long...

Personally, I don't know what to say. This is possibly one of the very few times that I actually bother to trudge through 4 pages of posts in order to get the full story on this map. It seems you've had problems with the Gearbox people, although I find that was totally uncalled for I'd like to excuse their actions as they've probably had countless encounters with members joining and saying great and wonderful things that they couldn't possibly pull off. Even we've had similar circumstances in the past (anyone remember Halo Special Edtion :/) I admit, I hardly play Halo CE anymore because the hastle of downloading maps and the lack of good quality strategic maps bother me. I understand that every single map Bungie puts out is thought out into full, how every single gametype, and match will play out; whether it be the near-symmetry of blood gulch to the complex map of Chillout, every single room, ladder, and teleporter is thought out.

I too, am one which is amazed by flashing lights, and drivable spaceships, and such, but to truly be amazing a map has to create good scenarios, ones which allow people to battle each other, steal flags, and hear their hearts pound as they franticaly return to their base. I just wish this map you are making has this magic. This whole thing sounds amazing, and I hope it'll turn out good. Sorry, I've been gone so long but nothing much was happening hear every so often that I've visited. Well, good luck and hopes to the fact that this will be a momentous occasion for the Halo PC/CE community when this map finally is released in full and final version ;)

This is one of the few times ive read long posts. And for good reason. Unlike some people, your long post had meaning. your fighting for maps that have strategy, and I'm trying as hard as I can to make sure every piece of the map flows. THe map will have a sort of symettry, only the architecture will change. The covi and human stations will be identical in layout, just slightly different shapes. The vehicles will be balanced, so neither side (cough*covi*chough) has an advantage.

This map will flow, its lay out of the human bases is going to be near exactly the same for each "wing". this will help all of u that seem to get lost in hallways on the pc campain levels. But one question, Are you going to put labels on the entrance of a wing, and every here and there, that say something like green wing and point into that wing? and hopefully look like the ones in POA? Because if they all look the same you could walk to the complatly wrong bay on accident or something irritateing like that.
