Subject: How was Earth not found sooner?

I know it may sound weird, but if you look deep into Halo canon, it says that humans had lived on Luna(the moon)and Mars! Plus, it says in the canon that Reach was the last planet to be glassed before the Covenant found Earth! If that was true, then that means the Covenant found Mars and Luna and glassed them BEFORE Reach! If that was true, then the Covenant would have been able to see Earth EASY! if anyone can clear this up for me, please tell me.

Wrong sir, Reach was the "knocking on Earths door" in terms of how large the human empire was.

Mars was attacked after Reach, and during the attack on Earth. The moon isn't mentioned of being attacked.

Regrets fleet was looking for the ark. They had a good idea of where it was and they landed near earth which the ark was on. This is just my guess though because i really didnt pay much attention to Earth's attack

Chuck norris landed on the moon and mars, everyone died.
He was on vacation when the covenant invaded.

You are just thinking ahead of yourself. The Battle for Earth was basically the Battle for the Solar system.

"Were it so easy..." -Thel Vadame.

Basically what Onyx said, the inner Sol System was attacked during the actual Battle of Earth.

I don't care. I really don't.

The moon doesn't count as a planet, nor were it and Mars large enough threats or population centres to glass. So, technically yes, Reach was the last planet to be glassed before Earth as far I know.
P.S. It's common sense to realize that they found Sol and it's system after Reach because the Covenant aren't morons and neither are the UNSC. But, then again...

Adding to what everyone here is saying, not only were the populations not big enough. In the book technically Reach was the last of the colonies OUTSIDE of our solar system to get glassed, Mars in all of this was not considered one of our major colonies, 1. because it couldn't freely support life, and 2. what we had there at the time was not fully self sustainable. Anyway in galactic terms mars was at home, plus Mars still needed help from outside because of the fact oxygen didnt exist there naturally and even with how far ahead in time this is we had still not found a way to create oxygen in large enough quantities to supply a planet like mars for an undetermined amount of time.

In other words all the enemy had to do is cut mars off, and it wouldnt be that much of a threat because we would be focusing on surviving.
