Ohhh....good advice! Rent it, show it to the people that are preventing you, and they will fall in love with it just like I did, and then they will let you buy it.

You haven't really given many important details about your situation. I can only assume "the people" are your parents, and their argument against first person perspective is something to the effect of "it will make you do violent things yourself in real life, because you 'are' the character in a game that does violent things."

Are "the people" preventing you from spending your own money to buy Halo¿ If you had a friend's copy, would "the people" prevent you from playing it, or your own copy if you bought it¿

Have an older brother buy it. Or have one of your friends older brothers buy it for you.
Edit: And what do you mean "The first person perspective"?

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

Well, it kind of depends on how old you are, but don't let them say that you have to be eighteen. You'd have to be pretty mature for your age if your under thirteen to get it, but if you are over thirteen (that's just my opinion don't flame) you should be allawed to get it. An Oregon court ruled that the ESRB system is just a guideline system also, so you have the law on your side! And make sure to tell them that the only "gore" in the game is blood. No guts at all. There was also a recent poll here asking what the average age of people here was, and the result was 14-15. Show them this link if they don't believe you-

bah

Rent the game. Show them that you kill aliens, not people. Then, whack a few marines so they can see that doing so teaches kids that killing people is a bad idea.

P.S. If you're under 14, screw it. You're too young to play Halo. Your mind could become tainted.

P.P.S. Pshhhhhh... Yeah right!

I very much doubt a 13 (or even 12) year old nowadays would be tainted by the likes of Halo. Although, if you went back in time to the 1920's and showed some kid Halo (of course they'd be mesmorised by colour TV, computers games and its graphics at first) I bet they'd crap their pants at what the future has turned out like and hang themselves.

Kids nowadays are much stronger and can tell the difference between right and wrong. Although graphics of games is improving, they can tell the difference between the virtual and the real. They can understand that violent games are entertaining, but probably won't take it any further.

If I was in that situation I'd say: "Ok then, I'll go buy Manhunt instead. Let's see the results of that!"

In my opinion, Halo is quite a tame game when compared to other games (Manhunt for example).

$83.00

Wow, how much is that in English currency (Sterling, £)? My copy of Halo worked out at about £30 when I bought it with my XBOX 2 years ago. 83 dollars sounds like one hell of a lot of money for Halo.
