Subject: With no Flood... The forunners would rule the galaxy....

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I was thinking, if the flood never invaded our galaxy, the forunners would continue to thrive, and probably supress all sentinal life from advancing to a high level and possibly rule the galaxy and be 100 times more dangerious than the covenant ever was...

It is just a thought, considering they protected our galazy but could become EXTREMELY controlling...

Please discuss and what do you think?!?

The Forerunners were not tyrants.

Also, humanity would not exist had the Flood not defeated the Forerunners.
Food for thought.

I just would think they would be controlling, the foruners were wise but they seemed overconfident...

That is to protect the galaxy, which could mean preventing humans/covies to advanance TOO far in weaponry...

  • 11.30.2010 2:38 PM PDT

their intentions were good, but what poetic irony that the guardians of all life had to resort to destroying all life in the galaxy?

Actually no. The Forerunners came after an even more advanced race known as th Precurssors. Not much is known about them except that were at Tier 0 in the technilogical scale (with the Forerunners being at one and the Covenant at around 2-3). Tier 0 is (in our understanding) a theoretical term at best. Tier 0 means you basically have the technology to pass through different dimensions at will, something no even the mighty Forerunners could do.

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

So that means...that the Tardis is a Precursor relic?

Cave Johnson here, we're done!

It's been thought that since we are the only species that can activate major installations built by the forerunners, that we have been genetically modified by the forerunners. Now how modified we have become is what's up to debate, but it's at the very least a boost on technological skill, overall intelligence, and the genetic coding to access forerunner tools.

We already know that the forerunners had to have had copies of us to transport back to earth from the ark once the Halo array had done it's job, so essentially if it wasn't for the flood beating the forerunners we as we are now would not exist. We may be slightly different, but we would probably be a lot less technologically advanced.

I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

You're wrong, they only modified us so we could use THEIR technology, we could still make our own regardless of any genetic modifications.
See, I just blew apart your theory.

Many gave their lives so that we could live on. I intend to honor them by remembering them. Remember Cyborg. Remember John. Remember Noble.

They did rule it. Sort of.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

No copies, they did not customize us, we do not exist because of the Flood.

Instead, the Forerunners transported us to the Ark, they customized their technology or just made it compatible with... us. We were at Earth before the Flood attacked.

Well, firstly, the Forerunner were benevolent beings. While they were supremely powerful beings, they were compassionate...how much time do you think was dedicated to searching for, indexing, and then transporting sentient species to the Ark to save those species from the Halo array?

The Forerunner held strong to their "mantle"...their belief that it was their duty to protect and preserve the galaxy and its inhabitants. It was actually because of the mantle that the Flood were able to invade and gain a foothold in our galaxy...since without the mantle, the Forerunner could have just obliterated the Flood infestation without a care for any of the sentient beings being caught in the crossfire.

And the Forerunner did nothing to "modify" humanity. The Forerunner came across humanity late into the Flood war. The Forerunner quickly indexed humanity and transported them to the Ark. In the Halo 3 terminals, it states that the Forerunner were quite surprised by the discovery of humanity and that because of humanity's uniqueness, the species was made heir to the Forerunner.

The forerunners, a race who tried to save the entire galaxy, who went so far as to conserve samples of every life form so they would be saved from the flood...."rule" the galaxy?

I think the forerunners wouldve been extremely happy to let the races evolve naturally and coexist peacefully. There would be no "ruling" going on.
