...Uh...

Have you recently chopped up any old men and shoved them under the floorboards?....

You are inded hearing things.

If you're not familiar with Edgar Allen Poe, he wrote a very famous poem in which the main character kills an old man, shoves him in the floor, and later confesses to the police due to the ringing heartbeat he can hear in his head blah blah blah

You can hear your heartbeat once your health bar is red or there's one bar remaining. I don't remeber which.

Get your health down to one bar, RECHARGE YOUR SHIELDS, turn up the volume, listen and admit you're wrong.

Or it just so happens every time you lose all your health, your enemies hold their communicators to their chests.

Oh wait, this is Halo 1. Oh well.

If you dont have a subwoofer then shut it. You think your right but your wrong. When I heard the sound for the first time I was like, wtf!, who has a car outside blasting music.

Health: The player in Halo has a limited, non-regenerating health bar which can be fully restored by picking up health-packs. Running completely out of health will result in death, but having lower health doesn’t impede player actions. A player's health can only be reduced if his shields have failed. If the player's health is low the game plays a low heart-beat sound (so subtle it goes unnoticed by most players).

You do know that Wikipedia's information is submitted by random people. Therefore you could've just written that in there.....

If there is a heartbeat, you can have my sixth-born child.

The first mention of a heart beat was added 18:09, 17 June 2005 by IP number 66.168.200.207.

"Something to notice is if you're low on health, (your health is in the "red," find a quiet area with no music and turn up the volumn on your television. You should hear a faint heart beat if you listen hard enough. When you're going back into combat, turn the volumn down; you don't want to be deaf!"

A few minutes later on 18:48, 17 June 2005 Sockatume edited it to

"If the player's health is low (into the red) the game will begin to play a low heart-beat sound. This usually requires a very quiet area or a sound system with a subwoofer to be noticable."

Finally on 23:35, 3 September 2005 it was edited by Marblespire to what it is right now...

"If the player's health is low the game plays a low heart-beat sound (so subtle it goes unnoticed by most players)."

Click the history tab on the top of that page. You'll discover this stuff wasn't added recently and certainly not by me upon reading this topic. Explain how this heart beat nonsense got revised twice by visitors but never deleted.

If you have surround sound you can hear heartbeats if you have only 1 health bar left. That's all I have to say.
