The Council would be more involved in managing the Column, which previously fell to Bungie employees to handle.

As in, dealing with the programming, or what?

Alright, after 10 pages of posting maybe we should compile all the positive and negative info into one clean post to know specifically what we need, want, and must keep out of an idea like this.

Here's my general idea:

This is on elections. Now, if this has already been talked about and decided upon then I am sorry for the inconveince. But here's my two cents. I believe that a mass message should be sent to all the chapters when an election comes along. From there, it would be the chapter creators' job to enforce the voting on thier members. Specific info can be sent back to the "officials" on which groups have submitted their votes and which have not. This would be a much more efficient way of gathering votes from the forumgoers and would also inspire more people to join chapters thus making B.net much more organized.
People would want to join chapters (and stay in them) because whenever an election came around the would want to get their vote in; only by staying in a chapter religiously (not leaving) would you know when an election arises (because they would be spontanious events which their dates would only be known by the "officials".) You see, the "officials" wouldn't publicly state when an election was taking place. They would ONLY send messages to chapter creators and the people in the respected chapters would get to vote. Anyone that isnt in a chapter would be totally oblivious to the fact.
To advise new people of the fact that elections are only done in this fashion, a sticky could be posted in one of the forums telling everyone that to be informed of a new election you must join a chapter. This would let people know that there are elections but only by joining a chapter and sticking

Those are my ideas and I hope they help.

Elections probably wouldn't happen. Bungie would probably just pick people.

Damn, sounds cool! I have a council within my own group and it consists of the most active and trusty staff. And then we have meetings on the forum and discuss subject about our group.
I think you might try that in a bigger form.

Yeah, you're right. Bungie would probably have to pick. The reason why I set my election parameteres around the chapters and their occupants with the officials "running the show" was because of the huge drop in chapter support B.net has been having. GameJunkieJim made a topic on revitalizing the chapter situation in these forums and how to bring more people back. I thought that under my election plan we would get more thriving chapters while *hopefully* getting more competent people to vote. In the individual chapter voting part it would've been the chater creators that would've moderated his/her group. The officials would only step in if needed.

But if noone like the idea, I'll scrap it and keep thinking of more.

Celenon, seems to be on the rite track. People in chapters should be able to vote.

The only thing I seem to question is who who would Bungie pick to be in the Council. their own staff, devotees on the forums......???
