One thing I never compleatly understood about halo is the Forunners.I mean I'v learned from the series that the forunners where the most powerful beings in the Halo universe and that they where attacked by the flood and where able to contain the Flood on the Halo rings and prision planets.
But what happend to them after that, where did they go and who where the Forunners. We do know that, from playing Halo Reach that Cortana is Forunner technology,so that means that the Forunners are the ancestors of humans. But that still doesn't explain who they are.
In the Halo universe, the Forunners had the technology to build solar systems if not galaxies,so does that mean they created Earth.

If you guys have any idea who they are please comment.

You are asking questions that I wish I could tell you, the Forerunners are still very mysterious and we have hardly any info on them. But in a few months Greg Bear's Forerunner Saga will be coming out, so hopefully we can answer your question.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Cortana is Forunner technology

Not again. What is making people think that Cortana is Forerunner?

Anyway, I've got some questions of my own, hopefully the Forerunner trilogy will cover it.

This is all very inaccurate. I will address a few key problems. The Forerunners were completely UNABLE to contain the flood. That is why they built the rings and shield worlds (Sword and Shield). After many attempts to contain the flood, the forerunners had run out of options and had to activate the halo rings. The Halo Ring Array wipes out all life in the galaxy, destroying the flood's food source.

This cost the Forerunners their lives. They preserved many species throughout the galaxy and after the rings were fired, planets began anew with life.

The shield worlds were their place to retreat to for safety when firing the rings. No knowledge of what is within a shield world exists as one has only been visited at the end of one of the novels (Onyx).

Cortana is not forerunner. She was developed by Dr. Halsey. The game somewhat skews the already developed cannon by not explaining this well. What you see during the later missions is a portion of Cortana, like a portion of a Harddrive, which once the latchkey discovery was made, Dr. Halsey began downloading to this portion of Cortana to be brought to the PoA. Cortana was modeled after Dr. Halsey, and though she likely has been inspired by less significant Forerunner technology, she is very much human-developed. The information that was being transfered to Cortana was likely what lead to her knowledge of the halo rings, setting in motion the events of Halo CE.

Hope this helps a little. I am assuming you have not read the novels or looked too deeply into the halo universe as your information was quite wrong, so a little clarification hopefully is beneficial.

I like the Mk V armor.

Nope, Percusors are the most advanced race.

We are not decendents, but merely picked by them.

Cortona is not there tech, but she is so advanced she can hack them with a reasonable amount of time.

They contained like 2%(Random Guess) of the Flood. The rest infected them, but the Libraian and her "lover" activated the rings. The rings wiped out anything sentient within each radius, and to counter the ending ranges one of the seven rings would have it's strange weapon meat the radius, and so on. Her Lover survived(As he was on the Ark), but likely died of old age.

So you have been informed.

egore is more or less right. The librarian did nothing to arm the rings though. She built the portal on Earth to the Ark for future use and was in the process of indexing all life outside of the Forerunners protected space. Her lover, Didact, a high ranking military Forerunner, begged for her to return home so she could be saved and he could arm the rings, but she did not want to jeopardize the success of the rings, disabled her ship, and was likely killed on earth by the firing of the rings.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

You've clearly not paid the slightest bit of attention then...

I'v learned from the series that the forunners where the most powerful beings in the Halo universe

Wrong. The Precursors were.

prision planets.

No...

But what happend to them after that, where did they go and who where the Forunners.

Before the Didact fired the Rings, the other Forerunners were either fighting the Flood and Mendicant Bias with Offensive Bias, or they were retreating into the Shield Worlds. Once the Flood lay dormant, they reseeded the galaxy of life, passed the Mantle down to humanity to reclaim their fallen empire and left the Milky Way - likely in self-imposed exile for their failure to uphold the Mantle.

We do know that, from playing Halo Reach that Cortana is Forunner technology

Please tell me you're joking...

so that means that the Forunners are the ancestors of humans.

Again, no. The Forerunners discovered humanity, they saw us as special and passed down the Mantle to us before they left the galaxy.

In the Halo universe, the Forunners had the technology to build solar systems if not galaxies,so does that mean they created Earth.

*Yawns.*

No, the Forerunners were capable of building planets and vast structures in space. They were "world builders" (not galaxy builders), they did not create Earth.

There mystery makes them interesting.

According to the terminals, the forerunner who were on the ark when they fired the halos went on the great journey afterwards.

What the great journey really is, and how one really goes on it is a mystery.

The "Great Journey" is the Covenant's twisted belief that when one activates Halo then the worthy races ascend to godhood by transcending beyond the physical realm of existance, this is incorrect. The real Great Journey was mentioned in the Terminals by the Didact saying he will "begin his great journey" to activate the Rings.

There was nothing holy or divine about it. One might say this was just another one of the Covenant's misinterpretations.

I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

New info suggests that the Great Journey was the Forerunners' exodus out of the galaxy for whatever reason.

The Forerunners left the galaxy to places unknown, possibly to follow the Precursors to divinity (lulz at the Covenant<Forerunner<Precursor trend). This is the Great Journey, the Covies just thought they ascended because of the Rings, not after them.
