Good point.
So far, the controls are glitchy because I havent modified the tags much, the physics file is pretty much the same with velocity measurements, tweaking those will give the user more control without sacraficing the accurate sub-light spped of the ship's engines (this concerns both ships currently in the map)

Second is how it looks. I am working on this, which is why there are 2 completed hallways in the human station, but 4 arms. The two remaining hallways are being worked on. And the central intersection of the hallways hasnt been planned yet. Other than that, the hallways are all scenery files (cause tool wouldnt export them as part of the map, so i got pissed and spent an hour making them scenery and putting them into 1 arm). I need to make a turn, 3 way, and 4 way allong with a straight piece with a door spot and a dead end piece.

Third is how it plays strategically. Unlike hugeass, which everyone should know sucked strategically cause it was slow as hell (no, trepidationw ill not be. It takes place in pretty much open space which means nothing to render but the vehicles, and the bases will only have enemy players in them when the flag is being taken in CTF) trepidation will be very strategic. Even though each team has completely different vehicles, they will be evenly matched, regardless of book accuracy (i have the entire trilogy for reference on matters that need to be accurate). I may not use the frigate, but instead use a longsword to match the seraph fighter. This will be the standard vehicle, you can expect 4 on each side (4 ls's, 4 seraphs). There will be 3 halycon's and 3 battle cruisers, and 1 marathon and 1 carrier. I still need the Marathon model, so we'll wait on that.

Hey, just played the beta for the few minutes I've got free...it looks like it's coming along. The scaling down of the ships was a smart move - otherwise it would have been ridiculously large. There are a few bugs and glitches, and when I boarded a covie cruiser at one point, the game crashed. I'm not sure if that's my system being odd as usual [it likes crashing in quite a few games], but it's only a beta anyway.

My vote? Yes/probably. I've got confidence that you can do a really good job and you know what you're doing.

i don't see why anyone would think it wouldn't work. just as long as it takes more than one missle impact to take out a covinant cruser (and vice-versa for the human ships). otherwise it makes for terrible gameplay.

besides, no one knows until someone's tried. high class navigators tried to tell colombus he'd fall of the edge of the earth if he tried to cross the alantic. they had all sorts of "proof" to that idea as well. he sure showed them

i kinda liked it.

just one question. it might be the newest ati drivers and their performance optimizations, but a lot of the objects are so gargantuan that my video card clips them and they become invisible if i cant see the center. the covy cruisers do it. and parts of the human base do too

Columbus was an idiot. He thought he was in the indies. And acutally, the theory that the earth was round was "sweeping the nation" by that time. Though it had not reached columbus, he was already a believer of it. PLZ dont compare me to him though.

This is due to the sizes of the objects compared to there render radius. This is also why the exents of the ships are non-collidable. The good news is that i fixed it for beta 9. Mb a little too well on some ships...

I downloaded trepidation last night and played for a while. You got alot of work ahead of you, but it looks promising.

Guess what?
I have decided to place small ammounts of hallway in the halycon.
they will be layed out like this:
|A|B|C|____
__________
a = passengers
b = bridge
c = gunner
These will NOT lead anywhere, rather they will have arrows (like the decals in the poa sp map) that have the correct labels on them. "Cryo" "Bridge" "Weapons Systems" (last one will be custom). You walk on these and hold e to get in the corresponding seat.
Now, this means that the halls will be in the center of the ship (vertically) so that they will connect to umbilicals. but what if the ship is on solid ground, not in its docking harness? There will be a small, purely box shaped, hallway that leads to the horizontal location of the above hallways and then has a large set of a ramps that lead up to the main halls. These will be on both sides.
Also: THe hangers have been planned, and will have 2 longswords each.

yes this map with be great! BUT... yes its going to have to be small... cause if it was large and had great detail guess what... LAG! i think it will work but the level is going to have to be small. it will be great but it would be better if it was larger but its got to be smaller like what you did already.

It doesnt have to be small, most of it wont be very detailed, only the insides, which are scenery files anyway.

No, dont make it scenery. Not at all, never use scenery for things like that. Never ever ever ever. Make it part of the map, it will save alot of problems and it wont affect FPS in anyway.

I cant make it part of the map, THATS what causes problems. not to mention, its a hell of a lot smaller as scenery. Why? cause lets se.. hmm, whats 100 x 300? 300000, now what if we just have the 100? What am i talking about? polies. 100 is alot better than 30000. i have 300 pieces of hallway, i dont want each of them to be a seperate piece of code.

it would be an awsome map but youd need a damned good computer to play it. Maybe try ripping out the AI...

but the AI would be good because it would add more players so i dont know.

The music sounds like you got it from the ghosts tagset, if so, you have to remake the music tag. Also, WTH are you talking about polies? Its the same as scenery or not, I have made maps before, I know what I'm talking about here.

no, not when i have 300 of the same piece of scenery, then it only uses the model 1 time.
If its part of the map, it will be in there 300 times. thats 300000 polies rather tahn just 100, and when i try and do it with the hallways in the map, it doest work. too many polies in one area.

Just cause it only uses one model doesn't mean it only renders the polies one time. It has to render EVERY POLYGON no matter if its the same model repeated over and over again.
