i liked how the forerunners seemed to be omnipotent beings in the game because you knew nothing of how they lived, only that they lost a great war and saved the galaxy at the cost of their lives. then they have awesome looking structures full of secrets they leave behind.

with the books, it will probably ruin that feeling of "awe inspiringness" in me. i think the forerunners were better off left alone to let our imaginations run for us.

Yes, this is true

Fight to the end, and give it your all.

Nah, I'm actually looking foward to it. I can't wait to read about them and their culture and much more.

"Happiness is like glass, you might not always notice it but if you change your view and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light."

Forerunners have never intersted me much and the only thing I might read about is the flood. So ill get it if i see it and if Eric Nylund or Joseph Staten wrote it I will get it even if i have to chop my arm off.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

I'm curious about it. After a while the "mysterious omnipotent beings" gets old.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

That's the primary reason that it'll be the last Halo thing I touch. I think of it as coming full-circle in the Halo universe and a fitting end.

I need to know about the Forerunners. Its the last thing about the Halo Universe from the first game that I have no idea about.

I hate how they name their children like Indians do. It's going to be so annoying when "Light of the night unite" and "Everlasting space comet" pick teams in gym class and "Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting" will be the last person picked. .

Pretty much this.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

I agree, but I still want to hear their story. The Human story has been beaten into our brains over and over again. It'd be a nice change of pace.

Again, though, I think it will take away some of the awe at how awesome the Forerunners were. It's almost like they're being brought down a notch or two.

Favorite video game series: Professor Layton or Half-Life
Favorite video game: Super Mario Galaxy
Favorite movie series: Pixar (It's not really a series, but I just can't pick.)
Favorite movie: Inception

Nah. In my opinion, I think it's gearing up for the Precursor Saga, which is a really, really good sign.

Agreed.

im not at all worried, since greg bear is one of the better science fiction writers, especially with epic scaled, grand pieces, etc. like the rubble in his book eon for example, he has a very vibrant imagination so i can't think of anyone better to do the forerunner justice than him. (probably even more justice than bungie have done!)

  • 12.03.2010 2:53 PM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Greg bear has been doing this sort of hard sci-fi stuff for decades, I have absolutely every confidence that he can pull this off. Hell, I'm pretty darn hyped for the book.

I used to think that it was a bad idea to look at the Forerunners as protagnists in the spotlight, but I've grown to like it because keeping something secret forever get's boring.
