Since my last was pretty unfair, let's pair two forces up in a fight for a planet. We'll have The Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40,000 against the Covenant in a battle. Now, let's just see how this turns out. On the Imperium side, we'll have roughly 10 million Imperium soldiers and 1000 Space Marines. Sound good? Alright, let's give the Covenant 2 million Elites, 3 million Grunts, 2 million Jackals, 1 million Skirmishers, 1.5 million Brutes, and half a million Hunters. Those numbers are a bit ridiculous, but whatever. Each gets their respective ground vehicles, and each gets 1000 ships in orbit. There are no off-world re-enforcments available. The troop numbers don't count for the ones in orbit. There will be no Glassing/Exterminatus. Now, let's examine the statistics. The Imperial Guard's wepons are inferior to the Covenant's, some soldiers still equiped with firearms as opposed to lasguns. An Imperium plasma rifle is lethal to it's user if overheated. Still, I believe that the Imperium are superior in morale. They won't back down from any situation. They could fight through things that would turn an Elite into a nervous wreck. They are so brave that a Commissar is ready to put a bullet into ones head at the first sign of cowardice. And that's not even considering the Ministorum Priests, who carry chainswords capable of cutting tanks in half. Still, the Covenant ground forces may prove superior, which is where the Space Marines come in. These are nothing like Halo's Space Marines. These are cloned from the Emperor of Man himself. They fear absolutely nothing, and are next to impossible to kill. One could probably take out ten Hunters on his own. They are equiped with weapons capable of destroying small vehicles, and have known nothing but combat since their creation. And that's not even counting the Dreadnoughts, who are piloted by a Space Marine who's body is too battle-ravaged to function normally. Speaking of vehicles, I think that the Imperium would have the upper hand there too. They have tanks with armor that can get 200mm think in some places, though a well placed Wraith shot may take care of that. A Scarab could probably take down a few dozen vehicles before they could kill it. Where the Imperium most shines is in space. Their ships are phenominal. They can be armed with weapons so powerful that a fleet of them can destroy a planet in minutes. The Covenant glassing beams have nothing on these. And if Covenant were to board Imperium ships, it would be hard for them to destory the ship from from the inside, as there are roughly 10,000 troops on each ship. For this and the above reasons, I believe that the Imperium of Man would win this battle. What do you think?

Eh, still think the better comparison would be Forerunners vs the Imperium, but we no little about them except their Stellar Collapse weapons and 6X the Chief super-suits.

Anyway. Hm...you know, this could actually be a good fight. Remember, the Elites are almost impossible to frieghten, as they accept death on the battle field with open arms, no matter the way it comes (save for the Flood).

Huh. I really can't seem to think of one over the other, given the scales of both armies. Would a Scarab be enough to kill a Space Marine? Or on a smaller scale, the Energy Sword in the hands of a particuarly crafty Elite?

Remember, Elites are masters of stealth as well (and Hunter's shield are virtually battleship grade plating, nearly unbreakable. In a video I saw, the Space Marine was still using bullets.)

I don't know to much about Warhammer, so I'm just making sure.

I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

hi again, Imperium victory "For the Emporer"

@roberto jh those 'bullets' are 10x stronger than daimond (the strongest base substance in the univerese) and are techically plasma rifles by the way the process of firing is described in cannon (opposite to the war of attrition)

Pff. Those Warhammer guys wouldn't stand a chance if we released the flood. Oh, sure, they'd kill a few here and there, but the Flood are an uncountable force. They outnumber AND outgun everything else in existence.

O.O

Well then...

but with the overwhelming odds in the Covie's favor compared to the Space Marines, their combined fire could make short work of the Space Marine(s).

Still think it'd be a good match, though.

they outgun because they use their enemy's guns and knowledge against them, while at the same time increasing the physical strength of those infected.

Imagine an infected space Marine...

I don't know to much about Warhammer, so I'm just making sure.

An Elite is nearly impossible to get to back down from any fight, but if one were deployed into the Warhammer 40,000 universe and had to fight through some of the things that Gaurdsmen have to fight through on a daily basis, some might suffer a severe mental breakdown. Gaurdsmen have been trained to fight Demon-infected creatures, and Space Marines can kill Demons themselves.

A Scarab could probably take out a Space Marine by itself, though if the Marine got onboard, that would pretty much be it. And energy sword could also probably cut through the Marines power armor, but the Elite would have to get past his Chain/Power sword.

Space Marines do use bullets, in a sense. They use 19.05mm rockets in a case like bullets. They are made to pierce armor and explode inside, or in some cases, incinerate the target. But it would probably take some doing to manage to kill a Hunter with a Bolter. Bullets still do exist in the Imperium, as some Gaurdsmen are equiped with Autoguns, which are caseless assault rifles. They aren't as powerful as ones that use cases though.

@roberto jh only hunters, zealots, scarabs, brutes and covie fleet would pose a threat to space marines but for the rest of the Imperial ground forces quick covi victory

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

Like I said, a fleet of Imperium ships can destroy a planet in minutes. Not days, not hours, MINUTES.

This is only the second time. And the last one was really unfair, I thought I would get a better fight going. And I'm a 40k fanboy.

I've read a bunch of the books, but the only one I own is the Last Chancers, which is also my favorite. My favorite forces are the Space Marines, the Imperial Gaurd, and the Orks. The only reason for the Orks is because I think bullets are way cooler than lasers.
