When your out of options, your trying the wrong options.

Just imagine a ODST finding an old weapons cache with tons of modern weapons and using it. I think it would be cool to see the ODST using a M-4 with an ACOG scope and a fore grip if you think its a cool idea just state a modern or past weapon with/without attachments.

I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

Sa80
reflex scope
silencer
grenade launcher

yay for the british armed forces with there modern but futuristic looking guns

the BR-55 (battle rifle) for example is already a 'modern' gun, its hardly different from an gun used on the battlefields of the presant, it is long barrelled, burst firing, bullpup assault rifle, very similar to something like an L85A2 or TAR-21, only differences are likely to be manufacturing standard (due to superior fabrication technologies) and things like endurance due to superior materials, maybe more stopping power (better propellants, etc) but all in all they are no different to an M4 as an example. thats the beautiful thing about the halo universe in general for me, its entirely based on 'reality' rather than fiction like star wars or star trek with a very modern military feel to it, even the standardised weapons and vehicles are a testimony to this overall feel.

In time, the tru7h will be revealed.

Most of the UNSC weapons are already modern, just with a different look to them.

Everybody loves Grunts!

Star Wars has proper names for most thnigs. And the Imperial Empire has standardized vehicles and weapons for the Stormtroopers. The TIE? That's all stock. They've even got a whole bunch of variants too. The Stormtroper's weapons? That's a BlasTech E-11 with a folding stock.

I'd like to see a SPARTAN with dual F2000s.

I am a monument to all your sins

And if it did it would be useless against Covenant and Spartan technologies.

emhem... The br55 uses an imaginary caliber and fires from a tiny ass magazine...it's not exactly realistic. Maybe more realistic than starwars, but that's not saying too much. I know this is for gameplay purposes, but I mean...it's just not true to life.

No calibler is imaginary, it's simply a statement of distance. There's nothing about the round it's chambered for that couldn't be produced in real life, and 36 rounds is a reasonable size for a modern magazine.

the master chief opens up an old weapons cache in new mombasa and finds:

An Enfield with reflex scope with red camoflouge and a picture of a black skull with a red hammer and sickle on its forhead on the side of the gun.

(if you can't tell, that is my awesome BO gun).
(and if you a halo fanboy, i am a halo/cod fanboy).

A standard magazine for 5.56mm ammo holds 30 rounds, so how does a smaller magazine fit 6 more, much larger 9.5mm ammo?

Star Wars has solid slug guns. Also, their lasers fire from gas cartridges that are superheated into plasma, which then fires through the gun's barrel.

Technically, Star Wars Lasers are really just plasma weapons. The ones on ships are just blown up versions of those that fire insane amounts of energy.

come on, the BR-55 uses 9.5 x 40 rounds, thats very similar to the rounds fired by the VSS Vintorez, that fires 9 x 39 rounds. as well the magazine is located in the actual stock of the weapon, so its hard to tell how big it is, it could take up most of the stock which means its a fair size. another important factor, we don't know the actual size of the round, sure the actual projectile is 9.5 x 40 but how big is the round, it could be much shorter than modern rounds due to improved propellants which would allow you to fit them into a smaller magazine, the ones in the 'art of halo' seem quite short for rifle rounds. my guess is shorter round, more powerful propellant and something like a casket magazine, quite short, quite wide with good capacity.
