Halo Waypoint Stats

I just played an hour of each one and to be honest Halo 2 is so much better. Better graphics, achievements, not as much lag. The same feel of classic Halo 2 so I my opinion Halo 2 is better.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

The graphics are only slightly better, achievements are irrelevant, and the lag was cause by Microsoft mandating 56k support. At its core, Halo CE's gameplay is significantly more skill based. The "classic feel" of Halo 2 essentially boils down to the game mechanics catering to players that are bad at FPS and couldn't grasp skill-based gameplay. There's not a doubt in my mind that those dumb-down mechanics are the very reason you prefer the Halo 2 over Halo 1's skill-based gameplay.

Given that the thread title insinuates a comparison between the two, this video is relevant. It may not be the PC version of each game, but these core gameplay mechanics found their way into each PC port.

Halo 1 doesn't require skill it requires luck as your opponents fly all over the place.

Doesn't sound like the HPC I know (unless you're using my net connection). I'd suggest a better server.

There's this number. It's called "ping." You want that to be low. K?

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Stop playing on CE 1.00 servers located in Mexico.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

And typing nonsense on the internets doesn't require much intelligence.

Yeah I agree with you. I too enjoy Halo 2 more than 1, mainly due to the classic feel of it. Halo 1's shoddy net coding really put me off on pc (it's why you see people flying all over the place, even with low ping). One of the big reasons I enjoy console gaming to pc. They run a lot smoother.

Add me if you ever wanna play halo 2. I host games from time to time.

I don't think that that generalization is fair. Halo PC has crappy netcode, yes, but it's rather old now and was made to be inclusive to 56k dial up modems, which was probably a very bad decision on the part of Microsoft/Bungie.

Just remember that on the console, there was no such thing as online Halo multiplayer.

And also don't forget that historically the only way to play games online was by using a computer.

Online did exist for the Sega Saturn, but it was very very very primitive, and no one really knew about it. You had to punch in the opponents phone number, and then you couldn't voice chat or text chat.

Online game never really took off on consoles for a while, however, for various reasons. Only when Halo 2 came out, with it's slow n00b freindly matchmaking, did online on consoles take off.

I had a blast playing halo 1 online with XBConnect, xbox live's predecessor. Ran online games a lot smoother for me than Halo PC did.

I've had so many awful online pc gaming experiences, connection wise, on even top quality computers. Really frustrating. Ruined so many otherwise fun games for me.

A lot of pc gamers like to feel superior for being able to cope with the setback and play through it, and heck all the more power to them I guess, but I just can't deal with that annoyance. Especially knowing I can just turn on my xbox and play without all that.
