I like playing Halo 2 offline well enough when enough people are here. It's no replacement for Xbox Live, but it's something. Well, my circumstance sucked. My Xbox died on February 9, 2010 (not exact date, but accurate within a week). Then I finally was able to buy a new one on April 19, 2010. No, I didn't get to give Halo 2 a goodbye shout, but I was right here in the forums while it was happening.

Anyways, as you all know, that map pack thing happened and none of us could play online. Well, the Original Xbox Live service was taken down just before I got a new 360, as was deducible. I therefore do not have some of my favorite maps. So I have an itch. I want to play these maps.

I know I could seek one of the Multiplayer Map Pack discs, but the downside is that it doesn't include two of the maps, and it'll probably cost quite a bit at this point. Option two is to just buy Halo 2 Vista. Upsides are all the maps, plus two that I've never played, online play, and achievements! Downsides are no local play, still missing those two maps, and the fact that I've heard Halo 2 Vista is a crappy glitchfest.

So my question is, which should I do?

Life. It sucks. Case closed bro.

I guess go with H2 Vista. Seems like the best way.

I was leaning toward that, too. It would probably be easier to find, possibly cheaper (I really have no idea how much the Xbox Map Pack would cost), and I could use it for more than just 4-player local skirmishes. I'd like opinions from people who have Vista before I go for that, though. I'd also like someone to estimate the cost of each. I can't really find either, except on eBay, but price is an important factor for me in this choice.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Halo 2 for Life!

H2 on XBL for the new system is the only true option to play H2 the way it was best. Hopefully they do backward compadibility with enabled XBL functionality. If not they remain a company on the decline ready to lose to Sony.

xbox connect is free. Perhaps you are confused with the "pro" version of xbox connect? That you do pay for, but you don't need it to play on xbox connect.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

PC port is the closest to 1/1 port you can get. Any 360 version will be some remake, and everyone knows remakes suck.

BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

There are some people that think, if something changes from a remake, it's RUINED FOREVER!
