I was browsing through the Bungie Store when I came across the new Bungie Aerospace and Per Audacia Ad Astra T-shirts and noticed something interesting. Yeah...yeah get on with it, we know about the T-shirts already....cOLD.....! Hang on, it wasn't the T-shirts that were interesting, although they are awesome, but their descriptions. The descriptions, as follows, give you a little insight into Bunige Aerospace and gives a little more credibility to it being an open world/flight simulator/MMO.

1. Consider not the meaning of this iconography. Reflection will only delay your departure. Instead, strap into this promise of a brave new world, and set controls for the heart of the great unknown.

2. We'll see you starside. - a familiar phrase yes, but it seems to be literal this time!...considering what we think we know about the new game....which isn't very much anyway.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

I cannot wait to see what this could mean.
I love Bungie's science fiction.

I would LOVE to see a Mass Effect-like game. I think Bungie could do wonders with something like that.

Me neither, they almost started talking about it on the last podcast, but then everyone started saying, no we cant talk about that yet....I was very angry. I also totally agree, Bungie's ability to create new and fascinating pieces of sci-fi never ceases to amaze!

Yes, but I would rather see something truly new and unique!

Bungie should have offered to join with Bioware instead of accepting Activision's proposal. some of the greatest storytelling sci-fi video game makers working on the same project. I think they would just need to find a production studio to actually flesh out the game. (as far as I know, Microsoft did most of the actual game programming and animation, and bungie did mostly canon issues and concept art)

Sounds like we are going to be jumping on a colony ship and heading out into space. Makes me think of Marathon.....

What are you smoking! You think that Microsoft developed Halo and all that Bungie did was concept art and canon? Bungie developed the entire game (the programming, modeling, animations etc.) Anyway, their deal with Activision is for one purpose, funding for their next game. Bungie will develop the game and retain the rights to the IP while Activision funds the project.

I don't care. I really don't.

No, all Microsoft did was publish it; no programming no animation. Bungie did everything else (concept art, story, sound, programming, animations, everything besides actually publishing). It's like books; the writer does everything but mass produce and publish. Same with video games

So all the duo you propose would need is a publisher. And if such a duo were to exist every publisher out there would be racing to get the attention of the companies first, from EA to Activision to Microsoft Game Studios. Epic.

OT: I think we have more and more proof every day that Bungie's next project will be an MMO/RPG with space combat involved and a major sci-fi setting.

I think Aerospace is the name of the ship, which would mean it is properly written as Aerospace.

Maybe the main character is a player customized colonist, and helps the ship on its voyage to wherever it's going, and the player can wander around and explore wherever the ship has been whith some sort of vehicle resembling the Sabre, but advances the story by returning to the ship. That'd be awesome.

I think the whole "Bungie Aerospace" is simply a clue and current project title for their next game. Just as Recon became ODST.

  • 12.07.2010 1:24 PM PDT

i think bungie should work with lucasarts then you have the 2 game denvelopers who listen to there fans and i think i'd would be cool to see what bungie would do if they made a star wars game

(sorry for my bad english)

Very insightful....I like this idea because it could turn out to be really fun and unique!

Then how do you explain that Halo was started as a pc project before Microsoft bought it? Don't believe me? Google Halo Mac World.

Why do you doubt that and what do you think Bungie Areospace is going to be?

stoked

As I mentioned on the other topic:

"Per" is Italian Latin for "For"
"Audacia" is another word for Fortitudo meaning "Courage"
"Ad Astra" means "To the Stars"

Which roughly translates as "For Courage To The Stars" which could potentially signify the games scenario: Set in an era of where space travel is used, but space itself has not been explored. Probably leading a reconaissance team to an unexplored part of the galaxy where they encounter an alien species and engage in war......

A long shot, but still likely from the looks of the motto.

Also, similarly related to this: Ad astra is a Latin phrase meaning "to the stars". The phrase has origins with Virgil, who wrote sic itur ad astra ("thus you shall go to the stars," from Aeneid book IX, line 641,) I came across that and automatically thought, Bungie you sly dogs relating something to space exploration and the name Virgil again... (For all of those who are missing the link there... Virgil was the Engineer's name in ODST)

Also, Aerospace could just be Bungie's codename for the project?

Probabably

I'm going to go with something along the lines of:

Your a soldier for the UNSC [not particularly Halo, as Marathon also used this, I think.] who goes with a platoon to try and settle a colony. However, natives don't welcome you as well as you had hoped. It seems to me a lot like Avatar.

I doubt they would put out T-shirts with the codename for the project.
