The other day, I saw someone post(that was a pointless statement huh?). Anyways. I clicked "Msg User" to sent them a PM. It came up just fine. I wrote the PM, and clicked submit. But then, it said "User not found" or something to that effect. I checked and I hadn't blocked this person, in case that affected it. I could view their profile just fine. But I couldn't get the PM to send.

Anyone else have this problem before?

Hey! I never thought of that! But that is a possibility, if the Web team knows about it.

Dude... did you know that your reading my sig?

Did his name have illegal characters int it? Cause Anchros changed my name because I had some characters I shoudn't have and told me it messes up the pm system so I wouldn't get any pms.

Yes, I remember a while ago I noticed that certain characters were treated as spaces in PMs - such that when I sent a message to one user, it was instead routed to someone else entirely, who just happened to have a space in their name rather than a _.

Not that I noticed. I tried looking him up on the People Finder to provide a link, but couldn't find it.

It was something like Halo2_hater. The PM was a something I post at all Halo 2 hating threads. But since this wasn't a Halo 2 hating thread, I wanted to send it to him via PM. It didn't work.

I had this same PM problem too. The guys name was written in a Korean font (if there is such a thing and he is from Korea). He joined my group and I tried to PM him a welcome message but I got same error message. I did exactly what you did to check for problems, to on avail. I just figured he had special (prohibited) characters in his name. His gamertag was fine. Sent FRs to him but he never responded. Oh well.

If you want to see who I am talking about, Go to the Serious Big Team Battle group and click members menu, Go to the last page, last member, and there he is, still. Never posted one thing in the group... ha.. You don't have to join to see this.

I have only had this problem once. dave

Oh yeah. I see that. That does make sense as to why it wouldn't send. The guy I was talking about just must have had an illegal character that appeared to be legal.

I once saw a guy whos name and sig looked like they were in Arabic. Wierd.

The PM system doesn't like Unicode characters, although the rest of our site tries to deal with them. I'm not sure what causes it yet, it isn't exactly a high priority to fix at the moment.

Wide characters are evil. I noticed this problem when I tried to PM someone with a name in arabic characters.
