Hey look! a...a...Oh Shi-

maybe maybe maybe SO.

What a waste....

No. He thinks the Master Chief is a Forerunner who came to activate the array, even when he clearly is not.

if i remember correctly in one of the books, one of the prophets finds out that the humans are the descendants (probably spelled that one wrong...)of the forerunners and thats why the covenant decides to kill off the humans rather then offer them to join the covenant(It would destroy their basis on their whole great journey). So 343 would believe he was one of the forerunners because humans are descendants of the forerunners

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

What if humans are forerunners? I don't think 343 would make a mistake like that. Unless it was because 343 couldn't see his face.

343 was clearly a rampant AI by the time it met Master Chief, and since there are evidence connecting humans to the forerunners, 343 thought that the Chief and another reclaimer were the same person.

On Waypoint I'm rocketFox;

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

It's either;

-that 343 simply can't distinguish Forerunners/Humans apart from each other
-343 is going insane
-they really have met before (time travel has been dismissed as cliched by Bungie)

I personally think its just that 343 is going crazy. Hence the mutterings, whistling, and the general disregard for what he does.

Whippin' 'nades since aught-2

Ah yes, this is a left over of the broken part of the halo story. Originally, the chief would have gone back in time. But the halo story got wrecked.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Er... no. Time travel would wreck Halo's story, it's such a cheesy twist for a plot.

Wake me when the jews are gone.

He's a rapant AI

I'm willing to bet didact (or whatever the name of the forerunner who activated/constructed the halos) asked him that question before he fired them. You do not extinguish the life of everything in the galaxy without your doubts.

Doesn't 343 say to the Chief: "Your suit is a Mark III, I recommend updating to a more recent Mark IX"?

It sounds like Forerunner soldiers, or at least the Didact, wore some sort of powered armor similar to the SPARTANS. Or maybe they actually looked like that. 343 may have also been losing some of his primary sensor functions such as robotic "sight" so all he saw was an outline of the Cheif, mistaking him for a Forerunner. Or he may have only scanned the Master Chief with a vital-signs readout, and if Humanity and the Forerunner are similar enough, then we should have mostly the same normal heart rates and breathing patterns. (forerunner may be slightly stronger if they all wore power armor or breathe and have hearts like the Master Chief)

It's just the passive you, another way to say "Last time I was asked". You fits somewhat because he's adressing persons with the ability to activate the ring.

Before anyone mentions "why would you hesitate to do what you've already done", MC technically activated the Halo by putting the index into the core earlier in the cutscene. Had Cortana not interrupted, he would have just chilled around listening to 343's status reports before getting Haloed.

Was about to say essentially the same thing, but you said it much more fluently.

It's possible he can't tell the difference between humans, found another reclaimer, got popped the question, lost the reclaimer, and found the chief. Makes sense to me anyway...

I am a monument to all your sins

hes rampant and thinks that the Cheif is Didact
