Finding the love of my life, and moving house really screwed up my gaming orientated lifestyle.

We've always been told that the Forerunners were peaceful, if this were the case; why would they have had weapons of war? Did they construct these once they deemed the Flood a threat or did they already have them?

I always thought they were a peace-KEEPING race, like the Jedi but with more planet destroying weapons.

Then wouldn't it have taken quite sometime to manufacture the tech and get it where it was meant to be? Even for a race as advanced as the Forerunner; this would take sometime and have quite a number of draw backs.

they built the Halo rings in a few weeks, I don't think building a literal star-killer and warships was that big a deal for their master engineers.

Where did you read that? I was under the belief that the Flood-Forerunner war spanned over hundreds of years.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

They used to have weapons, but as their culture and ways evolved, they decided they didn't need them. That's why they were so screwed with the Flood came into town. They had to scramble to make Flood killers.

it did, but the Rings were an idea that came up either very early or very late, but they never planned on using them until the very end; either way, they built an individual Ring--I should've said--in a few weeks, not the whole array.

Now how long it took them to build the Ark-Foundry, I don't know but we do know the Halos could be built in an extremely short ammount of time (the time span between the end of Halo 1 and the end of 3 is a few weeks or about a month)

yeah, and they're an extremely advanced race, don't forget the fact that they have tons of constructors and AI on their side.
